About Amazon Flex

Amazon Flex, found online at Flex.Amazon.com, is a new part- or full-time earning opportunity for people willing to earn money as a delivery driver, provided by the retail giant Amazon.com.

How Does It Work?

Amazon Flex does work fairly similar to other driving opportunities that people might be familiar with, like Uber or other ridesharing services. Drivers are completely in control of their schedule and are welcome to choose whatever blocks of time for which they are available to work, either on the day they wish to work or on future days when you know what your availability will be.

To become an Amazon Flex driver, you will need to be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license, your own vehicle, and the ability to pass a background check which includes a review of your motor vehicle records.

Whenever a driver is scheduled to work, they will drive to the pickup location and wait to see what packages are assigned to them. All packages will be scanned into the Amazon Flex app on their smartphone, and each package will come with a specific set of driving instructions. The packages you are delivering will all be along a specific delivery route.

Currently Amazon Flex is not available nationwide, but is available in major cities like Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, and many other cities. Customers can go to their website to see whether or not their local area is included, and if it is not, they can still let Amazon know that they would be interested in participating once this opportunity comes to their location.

Cost/Price Plans

The website says that their drivers will earn between $18 and $25 per hour while delivering packages. In order to earn the most amount of money, drivers will need to be available to make Prime Now deliveries, which are deliveries that are scheduled with very little time in advance and don’t allow drivers as much flexibility. Drivers who believe that strict scheduling is better for their needs will still be able to provide Amazon.com deliveries for $18 per hour.

Amazon customers are aware that there is no need to tip their delivery drivers, however customers are able to tip their drivers especially when making Prime Now orders, and drivers will keep 100% of any tips that are given to them.

Refund Policy

Since Amazon Flex is actually an employment opportunity and not a service that you purchase, they do not offer any of a Refund Policy as drivers are not asked to invest any money here before they begin.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who would like to contact their Customer Service team with questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by creating an account and using that to speak with an Amazon representative.

Reputation

At this time, Amazon Flex drivers appear to be very satisfied with this earnings opportunity, especially when compared to ridesharing driver opportunities. Because Amazon pays a high hourly rate and still allows drivers to accept tips, people working for Amazon Flex are able to make a higher hourly wage than they will with other opportunities, at least outside of premium hours. In addition, some drivers discussed being happy for the opportunity to earn money without needing to drive around customers that might be rude, argumentative, drunk, or otherwise problematic.

Competitors and Alternatives?

Certainly there are many other “driver” jobs available on today’s market which gives people a chance to make extra or even stable monthly income, including Uber.com, Postmates.com, and many others depending on your specific residential or metropolitan location.
