About Curbside App
The Curbside App is a new mobile application that allows people in certain metropolitan areas to order items from popular nearby retailers and arrange to drop by the retailer and have all their items ready to be picked up.
How Does It Work?
The Curbside website describes their service as “a new way to shop,” saying that they work hard to make it easy to find, buy, and then pickup products at nearby retailers in the metropolitan areas of San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New Jersey/New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.
All you have to do is use their app to find the items you would like to buy at your local stores and order them through the app. Employees at the chosen store will collect all the available items for you, and when they are ready you will be sent a text message as well as an email, which include the official receipt from the retailer.
Employees will then bring your order to a designated pickup area, like the Customer Service desk, or – if available at your time of purchase – they will bring them directly to the curbside in front of the store, and you will not even have to park in order to collect your order.
Customers are given a window of up to 48 hours in which to pick up your order after it is placed – if for some reason, you require more time, you can contact Curbside App Customer Service and they will help you extend your pick up time.
At this time, the website states that they offer two mobile apps for iOS and Android, and unfortunately there is no information yet available is this app will be available on other platforms in the future.
At this time, the Curbside App is free to download and they promise that products ordered through their application will never be marked up from the price posted on the retailer’s website. Depending on the retailer from which you have ordered, your card will either be charged at the time of order or at the time of pick up.
Since customers are not paying any money directly to Curbside, they do not offer their customers a Refund Policy. Instead, you must follow the policies of the store you ordered your products from.
If you choose to cancel your order before you have a chance to pick it up, you will be given a refund of any charges, but it will take between 7 and 10 days for the pending charges to be removed from your card.

At this time, it appears as though the Curbside App receives very positive reviews, with many technology blogs and publications applauding their challenge to popular delivery services, saying that though this service requires customers to leave the house, they also charge no mark ups or fees and allows the customer total control over when they pick up their items, while delivery services require you to often wait during long periods of estimated delivery times while charging fees.
In addition, the reviews of their mobile apps available on iTunes and Google Play are very positive, so it appears that customers who are actually using the app are happy with its performance as well.
Competitors and Alternatives?
As mentioned above, there are a wide variety of delivery service apps, like Postmates.com or Magic Delivery Service, but not many applications whose goal is to simply arrange a fast and convenient pick up of your order at local stores.
