John Commuta Review

Is John Commuta's 'Transforming Debt into Wealth' a Scam?

John Commuta advertises his course, Transforming Debt into Wealth, online and through many radio commercials.  He claims that he can teach people how to not only eliminate debt but learn how to make sound investments and set up additional streams of income.

John Commuta is also an avid speaker and routinely hosts seminars for Tony Robbins and the Learning Annex.  However, he is still most recognized for the Transforming Debt into Wealth System.

As far as his debt management techniques are concerned he offers standard and sound advice.  In reality there is no secret to getting out of debt, it is a matter of organizing, prioritizing, and serious saving.

Once you have set a monthly budget for yourself and have organized all your debts there are various strategies for the order of paying off your debts.  For example debt management coach, David Ramsey, advises to pay of the smallest debt first in order to benefit from the satisfaction of eliminating a debt.

Other debt management specialists will urge you to calculate out the interest rates per debt and develop a long term plan that will save you more money.  Regardless of which plan you choose the most important part is sticking to it and not breaking your discipline.

In regards to the Wealth aspect of John Commuta's course it's not as comprehensive as it could be.  He offers some suggestions like starting an online Internet Marketing business and there is also a section on profiting from Real Estate.

These are decent pointers but he's talking about complex industries which would require a lot more information and direction in order for you to see profits.  Thus, you shouldn't expect extraordinary results from John Commuta but a typical system for cutting down unnecessary spending and focusing on paying of debts.

This is a scam..For $6.95 for s/h you should get a cd free. No, you get the complete program and it is $400.00. You pay shipping return for something you did not request. Another $14.00; must ship back postal service even though shipped to you by UPS. Customer service person hung up on me twice and was rude to say the least. Beware before you say send the cd for $6.95

Find versions of this program on ebay or in the used book sections of Amazon or B&N. Classic advice, but don't spend the $300+ on the course. I got mine for $1.99 plus $4 shipping~!!!!!!!

Wow, Thanks for the information.
I called the 1800 600 4004 number and talked with Tony - seemed like a good guy, at the end of the spill he wanted a credit card to pay the shipping. I ask him to bill me - cant do that its only 7 bucks. I told him how i got scammed on a book deal (Men for Mars)and how i put me in there system for a new book every month and I would never do that again. so I ask him to email me a link so i could research the company...about that time the phone went dead.

Glad i found this site

The program works. It is simple math and a disciplined review of your lazy money habits. If someone claims it does not work, they didn't follow the program, or are too lazy to do so. It is hard,... for some radical. We are so used to buying anything we want, and converting to a cash budget is a reality check that is long overdue in this country. The current economic mess is clearly due to folks overextending themselves in a lifestyle they couldn't afford. Banks, Credit Cards, etc.. market that lifestyle and no one takes personal responsibility for overspending.

The program works, and my mortgage will be completely paid off in 4 years... You can complain about it for that length of time, and I will be burning our mortgage paperwork.

I bought it, and anticipated sending it back, but kept it, and will recommend to anyone who will listen.

Good luck, and with our without John Commuta, get your butts out of debt, and live the life of the wealthy.

I've had the program 2 weeks and I can say it did at least get me to actually sit down and access my debt situation on paper. However, I agree with other comments saying that it's something you can do yourself with discipline. I've gotten the info I need and now that I know they won't take it back or whatever I'll take action to make sure they don't get another cent other than the $6.95 they charged me to get it. I dealt with another company that pulled the same crap. I just cancelled my debit card and got a new one.

I agree that this is a scam. My credit card was charged but hard to resolve. They claimed to not take the product back after 30 days. They talk a good game but if you don't agree to attend classes you are stuck. They want you to spend money not get out of debt.

Thank you, for expressing your opinions and experiences with this program, I was going to order it, but reading what happened to most of you I will not order the information. Thank you!

I was ok with trying the program. I found most of the information was just common sense stuff. Then my bank account was slammed for $97.00 and change. I called to find out about this and was told that this would happen for four more months. Needless to say I panicked. I told the representative that I couldn't afford this and I would return the program. He told me "not acceptable" and I would have to keep it and pay. He graciously offered to spread the payments over ten more months! I still insisted that I return the information and I couln't possibly afford that either. No was my answer. I immediately hung up the phone and called my bank to see if I could stop any future debits to my account. They are going to try to help me. Don't, don't get this program! Save yourself a lot of headache. You can do this yourself!

The program offers a free trial filled with more material than anyone can get through in 30 days. It took 2 weeks before anyone called to see if I understood the material. When I told him I wanted to return the material, he told me I had to call a different number for returns. After calling that number and leaving messages, my "Coach" called again. This time he apologized for his company getting busy and said I should call customer service and ask for an extension.

That phone number rang and rang....

Finally I get through, 5 days after the free time is up! But wait, for all my trouble, instead of paying some figure around 399.00, I can just pay 249.00!

What a scam!

We ordered the 30 day trial review of this product for an LEGAL investigation.

Quick product overview:

It took 3 of us accounting and investigation professionals 27 days to review ALL of the information in the initial package. BUYER beware, 30 days is clearly not enough time to review all of the information you will receive.

Once we deemed the information overload we called the cancellation 800 # to request the RAN (Return Authorization Number) on the 28th day (today).

CANCELLATION PROCESS:

The first time we called we were put on hold for 35 minutes. We called back and were put on hold for 12 minutes, and then hung up on. Trying again the 3rd time we were able to get through to a real person after 17 minutes.

The person who answers will try to RESELL you the packages so all you need to say is "this program does not work for our finical situation" or simple say "we came into money and no longer have any debt" and they will grant you the RAN #. WRITE THIS RNA# DOWN!!

ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR RAN YOU'RE NOT DONE - SHIPPING / RETURNING

You will need to fork up another $15 and UPS or FEDEX the package back and when you do this MAKE SURE you keep the tracking information and request a acceptance signature (this will be your ONLY proof that you returned the item.

STOPPING FURTHER PAYMENTS

Make sure to contact your finical institution, the one you used to order the product and put a STOP payment on any orders coming from the company and it's affiliates. Be sure to tell them WHY you are doing this, this will put you in a position to show that you've taken the necessary steps to cancel the order.

Watch your accounts closely... report any unauthorized charges immediately to your finical institution.

BEST OF LUCK!!

One of Commuta's 'smooth-talking salesmen sold me on the program which cost $13,000 which he said I could pay in payments. That very same day, he withdrew $1,895 cash from my personal checking account and maxed out my Visa by taking $7,500 the very same day without my realizing he did it.He also had told me that my payments wouldn't start til March 20th but before that date came, they had taken 3 separate payments of $89.50 already. Several phone calls (of begging, pleading, and crying) later, a young man called me back and said they would refund 'half' of it. Here it is almost 3 months later and $0000.00 has come. They are thieves, liars, crooks, and heartless. I am a 75+ Senior on a fixed income. Do you think that matters to them?? Heck NO. I wish I knew what to do to make them pay me back.

Debt to Wealth sold my credit card info to 2 other scam companies called ECSaver and EMI encorp. I now have to file a complaint with the attorney general and BBB to try and get my money back. The information in the program is very basic, take 10% of your monthly income, put it toward your smallest debt first, then when you move to the next debt add the amount you were putting on the debt you just payed off plus your 10% percent and so on. Invest 10% of your income into mutual funds after your debt is payed off, 90% into CD's and bonds. Buy tangible items that increase in value. Only use credit for major purchases like a car or house and pay them off as quickly as possible. Pay your house off in 5 years by putting 20% down automatically, buying out in the sticks, and use what he calls your accelerator margin (10% of income) to put on your payments. Start a business online through affiliate marketing once creating your own website, or renting real estate and some other business idea I can't remember. I don't give a f*ck that I just gave away most of their info, because they have no respect for themselves anyway giving away people's credit card numbers. F*CK THEM!!!

I also was stupid enough to order the "TAPE", what I received was a box of material. I was unable even to open the box as I had a death in the family. After burying my Father in Law I realized that I still had the material and called to return it. I was told it was too late! You have 30 days! I tried to explain my situation to the Customer Service Representative, but he kept telling me that I have 30 days. My suggestion, do not fall victim to this SCAM!! The only person who is getting wealth is Commuta!!!!

There is a lot of fluff in the program, but the software alone is worth the price in my opinion. It's true that you have to find some extra cash to fund the program, but what will you be doing 2, 3 or 5 years from now? Still paying the same debt you are paying now. We pay an extra $400 a month... It's not magic, it's MATH. It works and it's NOT a scam. Good Grief. If the company is not refunding your money then yes, that's not right and you should take legal action. But the basic principals are solid and DO work if you would just have a little dicipline. Of course that's why everyone is in debt in the first place... right?

Look folks, don't put up with Commuta's nonsense, file a complaint with the Attorney General's office in the state in which he operates. They should investigate and take action or they are not doing their job. The more of you that file a complaint, the more likely you will all get your money back. Not one of you mentioned filing a complaint. Get those letters out today!

People who use programs like this and get burned frankly deserve what they get. Stop looking for the get rich quick bullshit schemes and ****ing work for your money. If you have debt pay it the **** off and quit looking for ways to spend money you don't have and then look for ways to get out of paying it back.

I followed the instructions to return the product after learning how expensive it was. They claimed they never received the packaged and charged me anyway. I sent certified letters and received no reply. I was hung up on at the call center. PLEASE do not order this product!

Stay away from this! They are liars! When you return the items in plenty of time, they still withdraw the monthly charge from your account! You then have to pay the charge to get copies of the electronic checks to "prove" it happened! Their standard response is "we don't see the payment posted to your account, so therefore it didn't happern" - baloney! STAY AWAY!

I purchased the program several years ago, and studied it hard. My only problem with it was finding that money to get started with. I also learned the same methods he uses in my Quicken checking account software. I found that program more useful because it already had all my expenses and debts on file. The only other issue is staying on the plan over that 5 to 7 years. Most of us if we can afford $200 extra bucks a month to apply to the plan, will usually end up needing to use debt again when an emergency arises (like a broken car, or major purchase or expense). We do not live in a pay cash society, and the credit industry is a monopoly based on our taxation system of get the peoples money before they do.

The program is effective and reasonable, however the $500 you eventually pay is too much. I bought the same program 10 years ago for about $30. This new program is just filled with worthless fluff to keep you preoccupied or reluctant to return so much stuff in 30 days to get a refund.

Anne   Colorado

This "company" is horrible as they say you can't return their product even if you have never used it or opened any of the DVD's.

Their "customer care" reps will hang up on you if you try to get your money back or tell them you don't want the product.

They say the product is "unreturnable". I heard that even if you try to return it within the 30-day window they make it hard for you to get your money back.

Any respectable business would take an unused product back if the buyer decided they didn't want it. (especially if it is unused and in orginal shrink wrap)

DO NOT BUY! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD FOR SHIPPING! THEY WILL CHARGE IT WITH THE "PAYMENTS" EVEN IF YOU DON'T AUTHORIZE IT.

I don't know anything about this financal program but I have to say that this clown advertizes on the radio (that's not the problem). What gets me twisted is that he inlcudes a cell phone ring tone in his spot. It does not make sence because is it supposed to suggest that I'm calling him on his cell? As far as I can tell the only reason to include this obnoxious noise is to annoy people into noticing his commercial. Why must he stoop to such annoying tactics? If he was offering something that worked I'm sure people would be beating down his door.

This is nothing more than a rip off scam. I have fraudulently had my credit card charged and have found it impossible to get a response through the customer service venue, the resource center venue or otherwise. With continual efforts exhausted to have someone from your so called customer service department return my calls, I am now pursuing the process of filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
