About Lulu Dating App
The Lulu Dating App, found online at OnLulu.com, is a new social networking and dating mobile application that was launched in 2013 and has since created lots of controversy for its unique approach.
How Does It Work?
According to their website, the Lulu Dating App currently has more than 297 million users, making them one of the largest online social networking and date mobile applications on the market today.
This app allows users to see other available users in their area, without showing their exact location, as well as to use your favorite interests in order to find other members who share your likes and hobbies.
But the most unique feature of this mobile application is that they give their female users a platform to “rate” and give feedback on the male users of the application. They do this in a specific format, allowing women to choose attributes and characteristics listed by the site – no freehand feedback can be submitted.
These ratings and “reviews” can then be seen by any future women who speak with this particular man. At this point in time, the men are not allowed to provide any information on the women they know and have interacted with, nor does there appear to be a clear way for men to object to any of the reviews they are given.
Currently this mobile application is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms, with no information on whether or not they plan to expand in time.
This app is free to download onto your mobile device and to join the Lulu membership, but it is difficult to tell whether or not this service offers any paid features or premium memberships. Lulu doesn’t discuss charging their members any fees, which is very common for a dating app.
Their Terms & Conditions does mention paid for features and memberships, but unfortunately Lulu is owned by Badoo, another online dating company that owns more than one app and uses a single set of Terms and Conditions for all subsidiaries under their umbrella. The bottom line is that Lulu users need to be aware that some features of the app may cost money, and that they should read all the terms and fine print before agreeing to pay fees.
Again, because this company does not speak openly and clearly about the fees they charge their customers, they also don’t speak openly about refunds. However, the general rule when dealing with mobile applications and dating services is: no refunds. Customers are welcome to speak to Customer Service if they feel something has happened that justifies a refund, but know that receiving a refund is rare.
Customer Service Contact Info
Customers who would like to contact Customer Service with any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by submitting them directly to their website through their Terms and Conditions page and then clicking Feedback Page.
As mentioned above, this app has actually created a lot of controversy since it was originally launched in 2013. Though the creators of the Lulu Dating App claim that their app allows the rating of men as a way to protect women and give them back some of their power in the online dating world, not everybody sees it that. Many men have felt victimized and unfairly stigmatized with no real way to defend themselves.
To attempt to address these complaints, Lulu changed their operating format to only allow women to rate the men who choose to opt into their app. This hasn’t been enough to appease many of their detractors, however, as this article from The Daily Beast clearly outlines.
The reality is that these kinds of dating applications which allow people to share “secret” information about others on the app – without understanding the event or circumstance that motivates the information being shared – should obviously be used with caution and a sense of reserve, if at all.
