Do not rent from them
We rented a house from luxury retreats. There was a very high deposit ($20,000) but it was a nice house and we thought it was to make sure that good people were renting from the owner. The house was nice and we had a good stay. However, about a week and a half after we stayed, I got a call from Luxury Retreats saying that the owner was furious because the house was severely damaged. I was floored. We spent two hours cleaning up before we left and the place was spotless. There was zero damage. We stay at high end places all the time and take very good care of them. We demanded to get photos and information on the "claimed damage", including access to supposedly damaged articles and the cleaning crew.. They did basically nothing except provide us with some photos that were incomplete and clearly problematic. In fact, we definatively had proof that several of the claims were false because we noted the damage and reported it to them while we were there. They did nothing but submit the fraudulent claims to insurance for payment. They then claimed that they "mediated the dispute" and withheld the difference in the claimed amount and what the insurance paid from our deposit. Unbelievable. Do not trust renting from them.
Florence - Misrepresentation
1. Prior to booking we specifically requested exclusively houses/flats that had working air conditioning. We were traveling with two very small children, one of whom has an allergy to mosquitoes and therefore air conditioning - which we know from prior experience is hard to find in Europe - was a MUST for us.
2. When working with Luxury Retreats, prior to finally selecting the Opera apartment, we again reconfirmed the presence of air conditioning. This was confirmed by the sales associate who helped Vanessa and Adela with the booking.
3. Upon arrival to the apartment we quickly realized that air conditioning was an impossibility. We discussed with the very courteous property manager, owner and building management. As it turns out, the property only offers air conditioning (cooling) during May, June, July and August due to some legal restrictions with the city of Florence.
4. Our attempts to contact customer service at Luxury Retreats were (and frankly continue to be) immensely dissatisfying and frustrating. Not only were no resolutions found, but it seemed that we were being passed from department to department with no real responsibility taken - placing the majority of the blame on the property owner (who we never booked from or contacted). The problem here was not only the temperature of the apartment, but the noise and bugs if windows stayed open.
In conclusion - The property is said to to have been "professionally inspected" by Luxury Retreats but in truth you misrepresented the property to your customer (The Cooper family) and we paid top dollar for a stay in which we were forced to deal with, not only the inconvenience of issue, but also the need to take time out of our holiday to try to incite an appropriate response from you as a service provider.
Total scam - stole $2085 from us
We booked with Luxury Retreats for a stay in Mexico. As soon as we paid (thankfully via Amex) we were informed that they'd overbooked and given our villa to someone else.
We asked to cancel, they of course said yes and since then we have not had our money back, they don't answer calls and I have to therefore call this company a total scam.
Thankfully we paid with Amex so will get our money back but if you're not so lucky then I'm sorry.
Not very responsive
Very disappointing. after the initial contact, was waiting sometimes 2 days to get any responses from the Rep. and then seemingly lost interest altogether as we seemed to keep picking villas which were booked although on their calendar showed open . A complete waste of time. Dealt with another company in the same business and within a day and a half booked a spot due to their ability to provide proper feedback quickly.
These people need to understand that their base clientele is the extremely busy exec type and time is very important to them
Have not seen the house yet but have repeatedly asked for Concierge service and have gotten no response. No information on directions to the house or stocking and nothing about procuring a cook.
