OptiSpider Review

OptiSpider is another software program by Leslie Rohde, programmer of the acclaimed products OptiLink and Mastering PageRank.  OptiSpider's main purpose is to act as a link proofreader for your website.  It basically simulates a search engines crawl through your site then OptiSpider reports any errors it encounters.

OptiSpider focuses on bringing the following errors to your attention: spider traps, unreachable pages, missing pages, missing page titles, wrong page titles, incorrect links, and missing links.  These are all caused by tiny mistakes that any webmaster can make no matter how careful they are.

However, no matter how small the mistake is the affects are disastrous to your sites effectiveness.  For example a spider trap occurs when a search engine spider gets stuck somewhere in your site.  This leads to the spider not discovering the entirety of your site rendering your hard work useless, since it won't be indexed.  OptiSpider alerts you to existing spider traps on your site.

Same goes for missing or mislabeled pages and links, OptiSpider scans every URL on your site and provides you with a list of each pages title.  This way you can easily see if you left out labeling a page since it will be called Untitled Document.  You'll also see which pages come up as not found by the 404 error that OptiSpider reports.

OptiSpider is a great tool to double check your site's search engine optimization since any error you make ultimately hurts you in the rankings.  It's foolish to think that you don't make these kinds of errors especially if you have a large site.
