About Proper Suit
Proper Suit, found online at ProperSuit.com, is a company that offers men the chance to have a custom made suit measured and designed by a stylist who will come to your home and work with you.
How Does It Work?
According to their website, Proper Suit allows their customers to make an appointment with one of their six Fit Specialists available in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, and San Francisco to fit and custom make Blazers, Suits, Tuxedos, and Overcoats.
When your Fit Specialist arrives for your initial, one hour fitting appointment they will walk you through more than 300 different points of measurement which will be taken and placed into their auto-cad to match your unique fit. They will then go over all design and fabric options until you are satisfied with your final design.
When your suit is completed, sometime in the next four to six weeks, you will have your second fit appointment where your Fit Specialist will double check your fit and provide any necessary alterations. Once you are satisfied, your measurements and information will be saved to be used toward any future orders, if you choose.
The website provides the prices at which all their clothing items begin, but the final price of all purchases can only be determined after you have had your appointment with your Fit Specialist and all your fabric and customization choices have been made. Blazers begin at $700.00, Suits at $850.00, Tuxedos at $950.00, and Overcoats at $950.00.
Customers will have to provide a $150.00 deposit when they make their appointment, but this deposit will be placed toward the final price of your purchase after your initial appointment is over. Alterations that are provided during the second fit appointment will be provided free of charge, as this second appointment is included in the price of your item.
The Proper Suit fitting process has been created to ensure that you are happy with your purchase and have no need to request a refund. During the first appointment, the Fit Specialist will walk you through all the information you need and answer any questions about the process, the fabric, the cuts, and more. The second appointment is made to ensure that the suit is fitted perfectly and any necessary alterations are made correctly.
However, if you determine later on that there is something wrong with your purchase you hadn’t initially noticed, you can contact them by email and they will work with you to fix the problem. The website says that in the rare case they cannot fix your problem, they will give a credit to use toward your next suit.

Bloggers and fashion websites that have worked with this company previously appear to really like them and genuinely appreciate their services. The thoroughness and expertise of their Fit Specialists is mentioned in almost every review, as is a report of all the compliments the wearers received on their final product.
Most reviewers also took the time to mention that though the final price of these custom made suits tend to be higher than what people can find at other online retailers that don’t offer an in-person fitting, the reality is that high quality off the rack suits can easily reach towards $1000.00 these days, so if you are considering one of those purchases, they do encourage you to rethink getting a custom suit instead.
