Simplicam, found online at Simplicam.com, is a new home monitoring product which says that they can help people away from home check on their children, pets, or home itself from their smartphone.
How Does It Work?
According to the website, setting up the Simplicam is very easy and quick, and will immediately provide you with access to the live streaming video once the camera is up and running and the application has been downloaded to your phone.
The camera is powered by Closeli, a company that says they that in addition to just giving you the basic ability to watch over your home, their upgraded home monitoring system also includes "face detection," which will recognize faces and immediately alert your phone that someone is in the house.
The Simplicam unit itself costs $149.99, and currently there are three upgraded subscription packages available. The 1 Day package allows you to review the last day's recordings and save up to one hour of clips for $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, while the 11 Day package allows you to review the past 11 days of recordings and save up to three hours of clips for $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year.
Finally, their largest package is the 21 Day package, which provides review of the last 21 days recordings and save up to five hours of clips for $22.99 per month or $229.99 per year.
The website is clear that no refunds will be issued for subscription services at any time, though you are always welcome to cancel your subscription services when you feel you no longer need them. The website does not discuss potential refunds for returning the Simplicam itself.
