Stash Invest Reviews

About Stash Invest

Stash Invest, found online at, is a new mobile application that promises to help people new to investing have access to different investment opportunities that they normally might not be able to afford.

How Does It Work?

Stash Invest specifically focuses on helping people invest in an offering of Exchange Traded Funds, or ETFs. When you sign up for a Stash account, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that explains your interests, beliefs, and financial goals.

Using this information, Stash will then recommend to you a different selection of ETFs that will not only reflect the things you are interested in and that you would like to support, but are also chosen based on their historical performance, expense (fee) ratio, risk profile, and asset distribution.

Traditionally, investing in an ETF required people to purchase one or more shares, and prices of a single share could easily be around $100. Stash Invest allows their members to invest in much smaller monetary amounts because they will purchase a share upfront and then split it into fractional shares for their members.

They say that this approach provides two different benefits to people who are new to investing. First, it gives people who are apprehensive and uncomfortable with investing to invest just a little bit each month – say $20 at the beginning of each month. They say that customers will be surprised at how quickly this type of investing can add up over time, and as they become more comfortable and informed, they may be willing to invest more.

The second benefit of this type of investment is what they refer to as “dollar cost averaging.” This is when people choose to invest a particular amount of money over time rather than just in a single investment, which they say is a smart way of reducing your investment risk.

Cost/Price Plans says that they only require a $5.00 minimum to establish your account, and then they will charge all members who are maintaining a portfolio under $5,000 a $1.00 membership fee per month. If you are maintaining a portfolio above $5,000, then you will be charged a 0.25% fee each year for your membership.

Refund Policy

As an investment company, it does not appear that Stash Invest offers any opportunity for a “Refund” as it is traditionally understood. Instead, customers are always welcome to withdraw their investments and money from this company when they are no longer interested in continuing to invest, but customers must be aware that there is always a chance that your original investment may have shrunk in the meantime.

In addition, if you feel that you have been charged an inaccurate amount for your monthly membership fee, you can contact their Customer Service team for assistance.

Stash Invest appears to receive really positive reviews at this time, with many different investment and financial websites discussing how this mobile app is actually a very easy, affordable, and informative way for people to get involved in investing for the very first time.

There are some complaints that their monthly fee of just $1.00 may seem cheap and affordable, but most investment fees are based on percentages, and percentage-wise this is actually a very high fee. However, if you are a first time investor, this may simply be a very manageable fee for the information and opportunities you will be given each month.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many different companies that want to provide people who are new to investing with a way to break into investing, including Betterment and Wealthfront, so customers who are looking for alternatives to the Stash approach will have other options that may work better for their needs.

If you have experience with this company or their products, please leave your Stash Invest reviews below.

In the beginning, the $1 monthly fee will appear as a big loss. However, considering all that you will be learning, it is quite a bargain!

I trust TDAmeritrade which is why I signed up.

Thank you for making it possible for a person with so little money, to be able to invest.
