Video Professor
is one of the oldest companies offering a
variety of in home computer training
lessons. The company was launched in
1987 by founder and current CEO John W.
Scherer. Throughout the years he has
routinely appeared on late night
infomercials asking people to try out his
products.
Through Videoprofessor John has been
selling tutorials on a variety of computer
related topics. They market programs
for learning everything from basic windows
functions to the latest version of
Photoshop.
The Videoprofessor company is also very
active in charity work throughout the world.
Each year they give out college
scholarships, work with America's troops,
and donate thousands of lessons to
charitable organizations. They have
also launched many computer literacy
programs and have donated many full computer
labs.
The other side to the Videoprofessor
company is the heap of complaints related to
their billing practices and marketing
strategies. The misunderstanding and
neglect of their policies has led to many
allegations to a Video Professor Scam.
The problems stem from the television and
online offers of a free lesson for only the
shipping cost of $6.95. The majority
of people fail to read the how it works and
terms of agreement sections that outline how
the free lesson works.
The Free lesson is more of a trial offer
for you to check out the value of the
products. When you fill out your
application you will be sent three CD's.
You will have ten days from the date the
products were shipped to decide to keep
or return the extra products, if you keep
them all you will be charged
$89.95.
Another area that gets people into
trouble with Videoprofessor is the actual
return procedure. You Can Not simply
return the CD's, you need to call customer
service and receive a return authorization
number. A lot of folks simply send
them back then don't know why they still get
charged for the CDs.
Finally, Videoprofessor partakes in a
sales strategy known as a continuity
program. This is a legal method that
many companies use. One you become a
paying customer you will be sent more
lessons every month at the full price.
If you do not want more lessons you need to
notify customer service.
Since Videoprofessor has this outlined in
their terms and conditions and how it works
sections they are operating within legal
boundaries. It is important to
understand their policies and how to avoid
getting charged for items that you do not
want. Thus, once you know how the
system operates you can proceed to to do
business with the professor.

I was able to learn Microsoft Access 2003 using the Video Professor learning disk, and I am extremely satisfied with the level of knowledge I gained. I think the best part of the program is following along using the actual software on your computer while using the teaching disk. It's like hands-on learning, and it works.

I did buy the program and I looked it over but I never got around to actually learn from this program everything is on the cd and you have to read on the computer and that can be nerve racking to sit at the computer to read all the details.
