Viral Marketing

Viral Marketing is strategy used to spread information about anything whether it is a product, service or new website. The easiest way to describe Viral Marketing is to compare it to word of mouth marketing.

Internet Viral marketing is done in several ways, all having the same goal which is to drive massive traffic to websites through a highly recognizable and forceful campaign. The idea is to create a snowball effect in which your message and website links get passed around to more and more people.

One way to achieve this effect is through viral email marketing. This is done by offering incentives in your emails that would make one person want to forward that email to their friends because it is such a great find. Things like discounts, free services, and amusing anecdotes are all elements of a successful Viral Marketing Campaign.

Viral Marketing has taken on many names in the past years, such as, leveraging the media, creating a buzz, word-of-mouth, network marketing, and so on. In the end it all depends on the ability of people to simply and effectively transmit information. Links on websites that allow someone to email the URL to a friend are perfect examples of Viral Marketing.

So a Viral Marketing campaign will have a clear message and present something of value to recipients in return for their participation in the communication process.

One thing I have noticed from my èmail contacts is a message that addresses the sender. In otherwords, a sort of test message complete with a form to fill-in. How I got the message is beyond me. I replied to one and got a reply, "What? How did you get my message? Anyways, ..." They then proceeded to sell me on a a possible enheritance if I followed a certain step-by-step method. I researched the name on the internet - it was a suspected SCAM.
