Work At Home United Reviews – Legit or Scam?

November 22nd, 2010  |  Published in Business Opportunities, Website Reviews

Work at Home UnitedWork at Home United is a relatively new website that promises people an excellent work at home opportunity.  According to Work at Home United, they can set you up with your own work at home business, where you can make your own hours without any selling, multi level marketing, or risk.

This opportunity is available to you without a large monetary investment on your part, and, probably the best part, this opportunity is closely affiliated with a Fortune 500 company who is going to give you the basic plan toward making your company successful.

In addition to all the wonderful promises made by Work at Home United that are listed above, they also promise you that the business opportunity you could potentially embark on is all about making the environment better for this and future generations.  So not only can you be your own boss and make a good living without selling or investing a lot of your own money, you can also help save the planet.

All Work at Home United needs is your contact information so they can call you and discuss this business opportunity with you in person.

So is Work at Home United a Scam?

Well, Work at Home United isn’t really a scam, since they don’t take any money from you.  However, all they really are is an affiliate for Melaleuca, Inc, a company that specializes in selling environmentally friendly products.

I assume that Work at Home United never says on their website that they are promoting Melaleuca, Inc. because then you would simply search Melaleuca in Google, and undoubtedly come up with all sorts of terrible results.  This is not because Melaleuca is a bad company, it is simply because any MLM company tends to get tons of bad reviews just for being an MLM.

To be fair, Melaleuca is not a standard MLM company as they don’t “pay” you for recruiting people to sales, instead they give you bonuses and incentives.

The problem with Work at Home United being a front for Melaleuca, Inc, is that to make money with Melaleuca you have to be able to sell their products.  While Melaleuca, Inc. is dedicated to environmentally friendly products, their products tend to be expensive, which used to be excusable in the 1980s when finding eco-friendly products was really difficult.

But now, you can just go to the nearest WalMart or Target and pick up Seventh Generation dish soap, Method hand wash, and a variety of other green products for almost the same prices as the regular not eco-friendly brands.  This is going to make it extra difficult to convince others that they should their eco-friendly products from you.

However, if this is a business opportunity you’re still interested in, just be aware that it will take lots of time and effort on your part to make any business, including this one, successful.  Don’t believe promises of easy money or you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Home Internet Jobs Reviews – Legit or Scam?

August 12th, 2010  |  Published in Business Opportunities

Home Internet JobsHome Internet Jobs (www.HomeInternetJobs.org) by Kelly Andrews is a website that promises folks a new business opportunity.  She claims that she can show you how to immediately start making money from home in any economic circumstances.

After you read the sales page, which describes how Kelly miraculously came across Home Internet Jobs and is now using it to make a fortune, you will get to the real business opportunity.

HomeInternetJobs.org is just another website pitching the “Auction Listing Agent Certification Program.”  This work at home opportunity has been previously featured on many websites under varying titles and with different spokeswomen.

What websites like Home Internet Jobs do is simply act like a portal.  They charge you anywhere from $47 – $197 to essentially train you on how to sell products on eBay using a drop shipping service.  This is where you list items for sale on eBay that you never actually have to buy, store, or ship.

You’re only responsible for the listing and marketing of the item- the drop shipper that you sign up with handles the rest.  In the past these types of sites would recommend that you sign up with DOBA as your drop shipper but Home Internet Jobs suggests you work with a company called Shopster.

So How Does This Really Work?

The first issue with this opportunity is that they don’t tell you that you’re going to need to invest more money.  When you go to Shopster to set up your ecommerce website chances are you’ll spend more money; there’s an option to create a free account but that only allows you to place 25 items in your online store.

Most people end up upgrading to one of the paid accounts to get access to more merchandise.  The cost for paid plans ranges from $39.95 all the way up to $249.95 a month, depending on how many products and amenities you want your online store to have.

The other problem with Home Internet Jobs is that they make it seem that all you have to do to make money is list items on eBay.  They even say that you’ll make $5 for every item you list.  In reality you use your Shopster site to sell these items on eBay.

Any profit you make will be the difference between how much the item costs and what it sold for.  On top of that, Shopster takes an additional 5% fee on all products sold.  Considering the already low margins on eBay this definitely eats away at your profits.

So is Home Internet Jobs/Shopster a Scam?

First off, selling on eBay and the drop shipping industry are legitimate. It’s the way that they’re presented by Home Internet Jobs that raises some red flags.  In all the years that Auction Listing has been around as a training program it has continually generated poor reviews and complaints from customers.

Even with this new program not much has changed; if you Google Shopster you’ll find posts on many consumer complaint sites from dissatisfied members.  Many people claim that it’s very difficult to make money on Shopster because the so called wholesale prices are actually higher than many retail stores.

If this is true then you really have no shot at succeeding since people come to eBay specifically to look for good deals.  If you do decide to pursue this business you can open the free account at Shopster just to check it out and hold off on purchasing the Home Internet Jobs course to save yourself money.

Update: As of 9/25/2010 Home Internet Jobs is also doing business as “Work at Home Training Institute,” while this is not proof that it’s a scam a company frequently changing names is a red flag.

Profit System Online Reviews – Legit or Scam?

August 5th, 2010  |  Published in Business Opportunities

Profit System Online is an internet marketing course created by Paul Johnson that claims to teach people how to start making money in the search marketing industry.  They include a variety of tutorials and services in their package and make a lot of claims about the power of their training.

Internet marketing can be a very rewarding industry to those that take the time to learn about all the various and complicated elements.  The general concept is straightforward but when it gets down to the advanced strategies you may have a lot of reading and learning to do.

In general the basics of internet marketing are straightforward; you use the search engines pay per click advertising platforms or websites to promote products to people who are interested in them.  You make money whenever one of your referrals completes a purchase or the merchants’ desired action, i.e. submitting an email address.

On the surface it looks pretty basic, but when you throw in a slew of competition an industry that gets turned on its head every month or so and ever changing technologies, things can get complicated pretty quickly.

According to Profit System Online they will provide you with basic search marketing training, give you a website to use, deliver extra tutorials & training and, most importantly, provide you with phone and email support.

Despite all the claims made about how easy it is to set up and how much you can make, you should have reasonable expectations when taking on any endeavor like this.  There’s no reason to push yourself, the more time you spend understanding the basic concepts the easier it will be for you in the long run.

Is Profit System Online a Scam or Legit?

To be clear, I have not personally purchased or followed the Profit System Online program.  In my opinion, though, the problem with any make money online course is that it’s impossible to please everyone.  Some people simply do not have it in them to make it online, so when courses like PSO get marketed to the general public they face a tough road.

Even if they have the best training the fact is that it’s not that easy to run a successful website, while you may get lucky with a few campaigns and feel like you can go lay on the beach all day while the money pours in the reality is that there is always work to be done.

If you’re interested in trying Profit System Online they claim to have a 365 day money back guarantee which should give you some peace of mind.  However in most cases with those yearlong guarantees you will have to provide some proof that you attempted to use the system.

If you need to contact Profit System Online for a refund or support their listed number is 1 (877) 786-4895.

Home Income Cash System Reviews – Legit or Scam?

July 28th, 2010  |  Published in Business Opportunities

Home Income Cash System is the latest version of a highly controversial work at home offer. The company marketing this opportunity has continually relied on a series of deceitful sales tricks and legal loopholes to profit off unsuspecting job seekers.

For those of you unaware of this company’s sordid past let me briefly explain. This program has been previously sold under the names BlackBelt Profit System and Home Income Profit System. Here are the screenshots to show you that they continually use the same sales page, opting only to change the name of the course.

Make money online, work from home, make money on the internet legitimate ways to make money online, make money with google, make money from home

The problem with Home Income Cash System and its previous versions is two-fold. First, they’re sold through deceptive “advertorials”- fake news sites designed to look like the real thing. These sites feature a bogus article about a young single mom who’s making a living using this system.

They use an IP tracking script to geographically customize the article based on your physical location. The sites also have a series of fake comments praising the Home Income Cash System, but won’t allow you to post your own thoughts.

Now, at the bottom of myincomeconnection.com (the website for Home Income Cash System) they’ve added a disclaimer which states,

…Our products and services have become very popular world-wide. As a result, there are many other websites that may link to this page. Although we monitor and randomly check the websites that help us advertise our services through linking to our page, we cannot be responsible for the content of any website that we do not control. Please be advised that earnings claims of any type are strictly against our policy as results vary according to each individual’s own efforts…”

This is their way of saying that they can’t be held responsible for the fake news sites. This disclaimer is misleading, as it tries to get you to believe that they are unrelated to the websites that link to them.

However, the only reason anyone would link to Home Income Cash System is because they’re an affiliate for the program and are paid when their referrals sign up. If they cared about accurately portraying their course then they would simply ban these affiliates.

The second major problem with the company behind Home Income Cash System is in the way they sell the opportunity. They use a trial system that gives folks access to the course for only $1.95 which, after 5 days, turns into a monthly fee of $29.95.

Among the 126 negative reviews left on this site for the previous version of Home Income Cash System, the majority of complaints deal with this billing practice. The problems range from people forgetting to cancel, being unable to cancel in time, or getting billed without ever receiving the course.

Not to mention that aside from the billing complaints no one reported using the system to actually make money online.  If you did/do sign up for Home Income Cash System and need to cancel the number at the time of this write up is (888) 230-9941.

The bottom line is that the owners of this course are simply in it to make money. If they had a good business opportunity they wouldn’t have to change the name of their course every couple months or use deceptive billing tactics to bilk money from their customers. They’d also put an end to their affiliates’ favorite gimmick, the fake news site.

Home Jobs for Citizens Reviews – Legit or Scam?

July 26th, 2010  |  Published in Business Opportunities

Home Jobs for Citizens is a new website and work at home opportunity released by Anthony Morrison.  Some people may know Anthony from his late night infomercials and popular books The Hidden Millionaire and Advertising Profits from Home.

He’s also made quite a name for himself on the seminar circuit speaking at large events and selling out large venues.  These are all credentials that Anthony Morrison lists on his Home Jobs for Citizens website in order to gain your trust; he also mentions many of his television appearances.

The more mainstream he appears the more customers are willing to try his latest products.  However, this new course is not actually his but a re-branding of a well known work at home product that’s been on the market for several years.

What is Home Jobs for Citizens?

The course shows people how to become what they call an “Auction Listing Agent” – a job that consists of simply listing products on sites like eBay.  Maybe some of you have heard about this opportunity through one of its former aliases.

  • Home Employment Agency – by Elizabeth Jackson
  • HomeJobPlacement.com – by Elizabeth Jackson
  • WorkatHomePositionPlacement.com – by Elizabeth Jackson
  • AuctionJobFinder.com – by Catherine Thomas
  • AuctionWorkatHome.com – by Cathy Banks
  • WorkatHomeRecruiters.com – by Emily Thomas
  • And many more now defunct sites…

The one thing that all these sites had in common, aside from claiming that auction listing is the latest and greatest work at home opportunity, is that they all generated tons of customer complaints on this site and many other consumer protection sites.

The problem with these older versions is that they made outrageous income claims and used deceptive advertising.  They claimed that all you had to do was simply list products, leaving out the fact that you needed to buy an additional membership with a specialized service called “drop shipping,” and the fact that you don’t get paid per listed item but per sale.

In Anthony Morrison’s version the hype is still there but it seems the opportunity is slightly better explained.  They still make it seem really easy to do and it appears that instead of directing you to a separate drop shipping service they’ve developed in-house software for selecting and posting items on eBay.

So is Home Jobs for Citizens a Scam?

No one can deny that people are making money on eBay but it’s definitely not as easy as these programs make it sound.  The main concern with these programs is that they keep saying that all you have to do is post the item on eBay and claim that you can make money without doing anything special.

The question then is: how do you make your listings stand out from the thousands of others?  Not to mention that you’ll be doing the exact same thing that the thousands of people who buy the Home Jobs for Citizens course will be doing.

As far as the course being a scam or not it’s hard to say since I have not had a chance to use their software.  Judging on reputation alone, the auction listing course has been through so many facelifts that it’s hard not to be skeptical.

Even having a big name like Anthony Morrison come aboard doesn’t change things since there are plenty of online complaints available for his own programs.  However, if you feel like this is something you want to try, Home Jobs for Citizens does come with a 90 day no questions asked money back guarantee.

This does ease some concerns about the course.  Unlike the past versions that were operated by faceless scammers, Anthony Morrison has a lot more to lose if he becomes known for not honoring his refund policies.
