November 28th, 2011  |  Published in Government Grants

Claim Your Grant Money is a website which claims to help people find out whether or not they qualify for federal grant money. Grant money is awarded by the federal government to people who will use it in a way that benefits the public.

ClaimYourGrantMoney.com claims that their site provides “excellent referrals designed to find the right grants within minutes.” To begin the process, they simply ask for your name, phone number, home address and email address.

However, in their privacy policy they explicitly state that once you release this information to them, you are also giving them permission to provide this information to third parties in order to contact you with offers you may be interested in.

This release of information includes waiving your registration on the Do Not Call list, so you will begin receive phone calls from telemarketers.

In addition, they ask many questions about whether or not you are interested in furthering your education, getting better deals on insurance, and other subjects not relevant to applying for grant money.

If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you will be contacted from further third party sources with offers and deals.

If you are interested in available grant money but not interested in having your private contact information sold or given to third parties, you can go online to www.Grants.gov, which is a free informational site provided by the Federal Government.

Grant Assist Reviews – Legit or Scam?

August 15th, 2011  |  Published in Government Grants

Grant Assist, at www.GrantAssist.com, is a website that offers people a kit to help them understand how the government grant system works, and claims that they will give you “step by step directions” that will enable you to get a $50,000 grant from the United States government.

Money provided by the national government to help people successfully accomplish a variety of things – purchase or renovate property, earn a college degree, begin a start up business, etc – are considered government grants.  Applications are required as well as a detailed outline carefully explaining the ways in which you will use the money to achieve your goals, in order to receive these funds.

In order to receive the kit you need from Grant Assist, you must give them all your information and pay a Shipping & Handling fee of $2.97.

The Truth Behind Grant Assist

Grant Assist asks you to fill in your address for shipping purposes. At the bottom of the address form, there is a tiny little footnote that says giving them your address means that you have read and agreed to their Terms & Conditions. In order to actually read the Terms, however, you must click the link at the very bottom of the page.

In their Terms you’ll see that your initial fee of $2.97 gives you a 7 day membership. After 7 days, you will be charged $57.93 for your membership. This $57.93 is a charge that will reoccur every 30 days until you cancel your membership. And while you may cancel at any time, nothing but your initial charge of $2.97 is eligible for a refund.

At no point, anywhere on their page, does Grant Assist mention a membership fee, or a trial membership. To the average buyer who doesn’t read their entire Terms page, the charge of $57.93 will be a complete surprise. That is completely unethical business.

In addition, Grant Assist is located in Ta’L-lbrag, Malta, which means that trying to get a refund could be extremely difficult. Also, it’s not exactly confidence inspiring that a foreign based company is offering to teach you how to get US grant funds.

Finally, the United States government already has a website that explains the entire grant process to you, for completely free. If you are interested in getting information on applying for grants, that is the best place to start.

StimulusGrantApproval.com Reviews – Legit or Scam?

January 12th, 2011  |  Published in Government Grants

Stimulus Grant ApprovalStimulusGrantApproval.com is yet another website that claims to help the American public take advantage of the government grant system.  While many of the other existing grant websites tell people that they must pay a membership fee to get access to the list of government grants – which isn’t true – the Stimulus Grant Approval site is actually completely free.

However, that doesn’t mean that StimulusGrantApproval.com is actually a helpful grant assistance site.  Instead, Stimulus Grant Approval takes the information you give them in your beginning questionnaire and releases it to other companies who are looking to sell you a product.

Some of these companies are education providers who will try to sign you up for a degree or certificate program, while others are bankruptcy lawyers, career counseling services, etc.  While you may actually be interested in some of these companies or their information, the problem is the manner in which you get the information.

These type of portal websites generally just get your information, and then you become overwhelmed with email advertisements from their partners.  In their Privacy Policy & Terms & Conditions section, Stimulus Grant Approval promises that all companies will give you the option to unsubscribe from their mailing list, however this must be done to each company individually – there is no way to simply request they all stop emailing you.

Finally, StimulusGrantApproval.com will try to link you to some of its other websites, FindGovernmentJobs.info and ResourcesForAmericans.com, before it claims to send you a kit for “understanding” the grant system when all is said and done.  If you are actually interested in finding specific grants that you may qualify for, you should check out the grant database operated by the Federal government.
