Organo Gold Reviews – Legit or Scam?

August 17th, 2011  |  Published in Network Marketing

Organo Gold, found at OrganoGold.com, is a new multi-level marketing business opportunity in the health and wellness industry. They specialize in providing supplements and beverages based on the Ganoderma mushroom, a mushroom that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.

Though they sell different health supplements, in both capsule and powder form, as well as skin care products, their real claim to fame is the Organo Gold Coffee. This coffee is said to be all organic, and infused with organic Ganoderma sourced from one of the world’s largest providers of organic Ganoderma.

To begin as an Organo Gold Distributor, you must first purchase a Promotional Builder Pack at one of three different levels. The Bronze Pack will cost $199, the Silver Pack $499, and the Gold Pack $1299. As with most MLMs, you are required to purchase your products wholesale upfront, and then sell them to customers you seek out at the marked up retail price.

The retail price of Organo Gold products must be at least 50% marked up over the cost of wholesale items, however, if you choose to sell the items at a steeper price mark up, you may do that as well.

Organo Gold’s Health Claims

OrganoGold.com makes many claims on their website about their products, especially testifying to their “organic” nature. Unfortunately, no Organo Gold products have ever been FDA approved, and the term “organic” in the United States only applies to products which have been verified organic based on a set of standards.

Does this mean that Organo Gold products are definitely not organic? No. However, it is important to point out that their organic status has never been verified by anyone – currently it’s just a claim they make.

In addition, many of their distributors sell Organo Gold products from websites, and many of them make significant health related claims about the powers of Ganoderma and Organo Gold. I have read distributor sites that claim Ganoderma has “been proven to fight certain forms of cancer.”

For the record, Ganoderma has never been “proven” to do anything health related. Many universities in the US are currently running studies on this mushroom and the benefits it may have, but there haven’t been any studies done by the medical community in the US or China that have proven Ganoderma’s health benefits.

In fact, a study by the University of Pittsburgh showed that prolonged use of Ganoderma could actually cause health complications, like blood thinning (which is especially dangerous in combination with certain medications, including basic aspirin) and liver problems, as well as short term problems like nose bleeds, dizziness, and upset stomach.

It is important to be careful and aware of what effects are occurring when you are trying any new supplements, especially those that have not been vetted by the FDA.

The Bottom Line on Organo Gold

Organo Gold seems like a basic MLM company. There aren’t many reports of past employees being burned or mistreated, and there aren’t many reports of customers having issues with their products.

But like any MLM company, if you plan to make a business out of it, you must be willing to put in the necessary hard work, time, and effort to build your downline and create a reliable customer base. Network marketing has never been nor ever will be “an easy way to make money.”

Market America Reviews – Legit or Scam?

July 22nd, 2011  |  Published in Network Marketing

Market America is an independent business opportunity based on what they call their patented “Unfranchise” system. This system allows their members to sell their products and recruit new members to the Market America business.

Though Market America does not call their system a Multi-Level Marketing business, it is regularly categorized that way by others because they allow their members to build a downline of recruits whose work they then profit from. This is pretty much the definition of an MLM business.

In fact, Market America members are fairly open that the only way to truly make a liveable income from this business is to recruit new members – simply selling the products isn’t likely to be profitable enough.

Beyond a Business Opportunity

Market America also offers a wide variety of products as well as a partnership with many large, well known stores and brands. One of the ways they attract customers to shop their site is through their Cashback system. Their Cashback system allows you to shop at major retailers through their website and earn money back on your purchases.

In addition to the Cashback system, they have a section of their website that shows all the latest coupons and deals that can be used at a variety of their partner stores.

This is also how Market America entices customers to try their own product line. Once they are on the website shopping at their regular stores, Market America is able to advertise their own products, which are being offered at a steeper percentage of discount than perhaps a comparable item at a major retailer.

The Bottom Line

Whether or not they choose to label themselves as an MLM company, they do have a pyramid recruiting structure, so the bottom line is that Market America suffers from the same difficulties as an MLM company. Recruiting people is often a major struggle, and making money without recruiting a downline is a further major struggle.

In addition, while Market America has taken many impressive steps to make shopping at their website more inviting, at the end of the day the truth is that many of their products are more expensive than comparable products you would purchase at a store, which makes them difficult to sell.

Undoubtedly Market America members will say this is because their products are so superior, and perhaps that is true; however, this will need to be a distinction you must prove every time you try to sell to a new customer, so keep that in mind.

Market America is not a scam, but to make Market America your business will take time, money, effort, and a talent for sales. Obviously, this isn’t a business that fits everyone, so make sure you are ready before you attempt to undertake this business.

MPB Today Reviews – Legit or Scam?

April 1st, 2011  |  Published in Network Marketing

MPB TodayMPB Today (www.MPBToday.com) is a new multi level marketing opportunity.  Unlike other MLMs, however, MPB Today offers an interesting type of compensation plan: groceries.

That’s right.  The MPB Today is a multi level marketing system that deals with a grocery delivery service.  Once you purchase $200 of groceries from their service, you automatically have the chance to spend an extra $10 a year for your own MPB Today website, become an associate, and begin selling grocery delivery services and recruiting associates yourself.

Since MPB Today requires only a one time buy in to join, and their product is one that people simply can’t do without – groceries – MPD Today claims to have an 80% customer retention rate.  In addition, they explain that the grocery delivery service is in its infancy, and therefore now is the perfect time to get into the industry, before it expands.

Once you become an associate and start attracting your own customers, your sales team must reach a total of $1200 in sales over the first two levels – with you personally having attributed two sales – before you receive your compensation of $100 in cash and a credit for $200 in groceries.  Because of this, MPB Today says you could potentially never have to pay for groceries again!

So What’s the Deal with MPBToday.com?

MPB Today, like all other above the board MLM companies, is a totally legitimate opportunity.  It’s becoming more and more popular as times are tough and people like the idea of being able to get rid of one family expense – groceries – while being able to make money at the same time.

There is something to consider before signing up with MPB Today.  First, though their sales page claims they have an 80% customer retention rate, deliverable groceries may not be the easiest product to sell right now.  Unfortunately with the program used by MPB Today, you have to pay for the shipping on the groceries.  With the current cost of fuel higher than ever, and continually growing every day, shipping prices are slated to go through the roof.

This means that in order to attract and keep customers, you’ll have to be able to find people who won’t mind paying, say, $250 for groceries that would only cost them $200 if they just drove to their local store.  Not many people are in a financial place to be doing that right now.

Of course, this doesn’t affect the business portion of MPB Today (as you’ll be getting a gift certificate for your groceries) but when you’re looking for customers who aren’t interested in the business, this could be a problem.
