I worked as an independent contractor for Profinity on 2 separate occasions. One thing that raises a red flag with them, is that they have used several different names over the last few years. The have used Profinity, GC, and now they use USA Contact as well. My biggest problem is that they train you over a 2 day period, and then throw you into the lions den. When this occurs you will be taking inbound calls, in which the caller has issues in which you are unable to handle. When you send a Team Leader a message, with a question that you would like to have answered, many times they become upset because they feel as though you should already know the answer to the question that is being asked. Many times people call in with issues, that not even the team leaders and supervisors can answer. A person learns by trial and error, and Profinity leaves very little room for error. The give you a crash course and let you make mistakes which may possibly get you terminated.

One of the things that I did not like about Profinity (MyScore.com)is that they promise the consumers a credit score from all 3 credit bureaus for $1 during the 1 week trial, but they are not completely truthful when they fail to reveal to the customers, that if you only pay $1, you will only get your TransUnion score. In order to see all 3 scores a customer would have to upgrade their membership, by paying an additional $24.95 which will give them access to all 3 scores for 30 days. It is understandable that when people call in they are upset, because they were only able to view their TransUnion score for $1. Profinity expects agents to produce a 40% retention average, when callers request that their membership be cancelled. After being misled like that most consumers request that their membership be cancelled.

Rusty Lowry is one of the team leaders, and he can be down right nasty the way that he talks to people. I let him know that I did not appreciate him speaking to me, in the tone that he used. At that point I was on Rusty’s hit list. I knew it and he knew it. I did not devastate me because I have several streams of income. This company can be dishonest, although they refund money that the customers were not aware that they were being charged. I would advise anyone who wants to use their services, to read the fine print. I would also recommend to anyone who may be considering contracting with Profinity/GC/ USA Contact, to have another source of income, and not depend solely on what you would earn with them.

I had a pretty good experience with profinity.com I paid nearly 8 dollars a month I believe. I received coupons sometimes a few of them were expired. I received a restaurant voucher for $25 after submitting a restaurant receipt. I also received grocery vouchers but couldn’t get the benefits because I didn’t pay the monthly fee that month or any month after that. This was all some years ago when I was like 17 or 18 yrs old. I was just reading reviews here to read everyone else’s opinions

I suspect they are a total scam.
Bogus rental ads have shown up in San Francisco using Profinity.
The prospective landlord will contact you with a link to Profinity to obtain a credit report.
The link is bogus, the rental unit is bogus.
    I smell a RAT.

My personal experience with the girl on the phone was kind of rude at first, but she came around. I guess it is sort of a hard job to do. Really., I think that people should be nice to each other all the time like G-d intended. Either way I got what I was looking from profinity, but in the end, I guess that the experience you have with the customer service person can be the experience you have with the whole company. If my customer experience person was not nice to me in the end I might not have give this many stars. But she ended up very nice and I actually had a pretty good chat with her. She knew her stuff. I think she had been there a long time.

Well, I really only had experience with their credit score reporting and I am not sure what else they do, because no one ever talked to me about that. I just know what I know and I think that is a lot about this kind of thing. You get your credit score from them. I guess that is okay. I mean, it’s kind of plain vanilla anyway in that they don’t offer you anything you can’t also pay for somewhere else too. And it is basically the same price too, so you kind of know what you are getting when you get it I think. I don’t think they are better than anyone else, I just think they are the say. But I can’t tell the difference between tap water and bottled water either because it is all the same to me. I am not saying that they are saints but I don’t think people who make potato chips are saints either, but I buy them a lot more often than I get my credit report.

I worked with them. When I call a customer service phone line 9 times out of 10 its going to get ugly. I don’t get pushed around by anyone, and I’m not going to take any “stuff” from anyone when I got something over the internet. When I called the customer service people were real nice. Maybe I had a chip on my shoulder, but they did not argue or yell. They explained things so everything was clear. I don’t expect anyone to solve the country’s problems with a phone call but they were good folks and maybe I was a little rude, but I used their service. I don’t have it anymore because I got what I wanted and then canceled, but when I had it their people were nice and helpful.

I saw some things on the report I didn’t know about so I called them. They told me what to do about that. That was pretty much it. I didn’t have any problem with that.

When I used them I saw are a lot of options for getting a credit report but I read that these guys were okay and that is what they were to me – okay. They did not hand me my credit report on a silver platter, but they did gove me my credit report. And when I told them that I wanted out of there program they said ok and I was out of their program. I can’t celebrate them because they did not give me anything for free, but they did what they said they were going to do and that was fine. The people I spoke with on the phone were fine and I think they were americans but I don’t think you can really tell these days because I think people in other countries get accent training, but I did not ask anyway so I don’t really know.

Yeah I used them too. My experience was fine, but I just wanted to see what other people said because I know that one person’s experiences are always the same as everyone else’s. So you think it is better to hire people in the US even when people think that this might not be the best company? I mean, I’m hearing mixed things below. On the one hand I think it is a good thing to hire people in the US, on the other hand I don’t think it is a good thing to hire people for just any job. Because if people feel like they are working a job that hurts people that is not good for their souls. So I am not sure from what I am reading. So I guess I can only talk about my one experience, which is they said what they did. But I wasn’t signing up for section 8 housing or anything, and I didn’t ask for my money back because they just did what they said they were going to do and that was fine. I wanted my credit scores and I got them. That’s what they said they were going to do and they did it. So I am only speak for me.

This company is crap. The “Head Supervisor” Melanie says she doesn’t know who the president of the company is and no one would be able to help me today, tomorrow, or ever. They started charging my account in september for the free 7 day trial which i didn’t even sign up for and in october i got charged about 88.95 and for the past five months they have been charging me 29.95 even after i told them to cancel in October when i was charged the 88.95. Yes i should’ve checked my banking statement more thoroughly but today i called when i got an email saying they were going to charge my account and the first time i asked to speak to a supervisor she hung up on me! Then I was transferred to Melanie who says they can only refund back three months. I have worked in this sort of business before so I know if they can take it out of my account they can put it back, its just a pain in the ass. I argued with her for an hour and the only thing she gave me was 60 bucks out of the 209 I deserve because i never authorized them to take this money out anyways. I never signed up for it and melanie wouldn’t give me the corporate phone number or email she gave me some bullshit address across the country. She has “no idea” who does the billing but she’s the head supervisor? She also supposedly doesn’t have a boss to report to. I want MY MONEY BACK !!

Yep, it’s a scam, alright. My son said he applied for a job which required his credit score so he called Profinity and gave them MY credit card number from a card that I had given him for emergency use only. The Profinity representative told my son he has no credit and that he could not help him. When I recently paid off and closed the credit card account I received a statement with a new charge for $9.95 on it, which turned out to be a recurring monthly Profinity charge that neither my son nor I ever authorized. Such bad business behavior leads me to conclude that “Profinity is a profanity”.

I used them and you would not believe what I found. So I leased a car back in 2007, and I never missed a payment. I never eve r miss any payments, it is just the way I was raise. I’m not even late with them – I think that comes from the way my parent raised me but whatever.

Anyway, I say that this company said that I had paid late not once but twice. But it just wan’st true! Not at all!

And, to make it worse, it was affecting my credit. It was actually lowering my credit score. How would I have ever know this? And what happens if someone else does this to me? As they say, it’s not the stuff that you know about that gets you in the end, it’s the stuff you don’t.

So I say to everyone: wither you do it with these guys like I did or some other way, always keep an eye on your credit report. Because you could be absolutely perfect and pay everything on time and some else screws up and you have to end up paying for it!

I received an e-mail this morning from Credit Updates 360 saying “There’s a 30 day delinquency added to your credit report recently.” It states I can obtain my credit report at No Cost by visiting a site on the e-mail link. Upon pressing the HERE button, I became linked to Profinity site. It prompts you to “click here” for your free report. I was skeptical because I have never had a 30-day delinquency notice in 30 years.

I have been a paying customer of Credit Report.com, which is supposed to notify me of any alerts. So, I went to my site, & as of today’s date – there are no 30 day delinquencies alerts. I then visited all credit services I have & verified no delinquencies.

It appears to me Profinity is using a “scare tactic” in order to obtain customers.

There is nothing wrong with the USA. “American workers are the best workers in the world” — those are some of the truest words ever written. But why we call can’t get along and get behind this? This is amazing to me. Don’t we understand that this is the way our country is going? That people who we are paying to take our jobs away from us are now threating us with missiles? Shouldn’t we support our homegrown companies? I say yes.

Don’t make a mistake using it. Company IS a scam. They charged me original $1, and then in just couple days there was another charge for a full month!! ON 03/22 – charge for March, when I WAS NOT a member and instead of 1 month free trial that was promised!!! And ANOTHER charge for a next month on April.. guess when? 04/07!!! I called them next day to cancel right away, on 04/08, and they refused to refund the money for April!! SO basically I got charged for 2 month within 2 weeks. How do you like it??? I don’t have time and energy to fight over these charges, but I guess I should! Anyone is eligible for 1 free credit report per year, so instead of using these scam companies, just google FREE yearly credit report!

Absolutely a scam. I tried to sign up, but didn’t get a confirmation email so I never was able to log onto the site. I thought I entered something wrong and the process didn’t go through. Then I saw the first charge of 13.98 on my statement. I started trying to call, but could never get past the automated system.

By the time I finally did reach someone, they had already charged me a *second* time… for $14.98 (instead of $13.98) and only 15 days after the first charge. After dealing with “customer service” (Agent # 7430), I was finally transferred to someone to issue a refund. They’d only refund the second charge. I figured I’d just eat the first one and chalk it up to experience. Then the guy on the other end said something curious. He told me I’d have a refund within 3-5 business days, but it would be best for me to contest through the bank because it would delay the refund for up to 3 months.

Now I’m thinking I *should* contest it. I don’t mind the delay, and this “company” shouldn’t be able to get away with scamming the general public.

American workers are the best workers in the world. Why have we forgotten that as a country? American workers cost more because they are worth it. Mor companies need to see and understand this. Just because a company can save money by spending money overseas doesn’t mean it should, and any company that sticks up for the rights of AMERICA, and hires AMERICAN workers is doing good. You should not be shocked that these American workers that answer these phones are good — of course they are! I do my best every day to support companies that hire American workers (and it sure makes it hard to use a cell phone) and if this is a company that hires American workers and pay money that feeds American families then they have my support.

That’s right, Proud2B, you are so right you are correct. Why don’t people hire americans the way they used to is it because they are not making money off these Americans. Of course they are. They know they can make money from the work of American, and keep the money in the country, but why do they not do this I wonder?

Right now as a country we need to support companies that hire American workers and pay Americans money for their work. I took it upon myself to call this profinity company and ask them about their hiring and it is true, all the people who work in their customer service are Americans and proud of it to. She said he would not tell me exactly what state she was in, but I asked her question that only an American would know (I felt like I was back in those old WWII movies) and she answered them all and she thought the questions were funny too and that’s pretty American too.

So I, too, support hiring in the USA of USA workers and keeping our money on these shores. Are you kidding about sending jobs overseas? We want to help our economy. We want to support things that are made and done in the USA and so I say.

While they may not sell or steal your information, they will charge your card as much as possible and make it basically impossible to cancel the account (we here in the call center cannot cancel accounts, only the billing department can do it. Please, don’t give this company your information, they are as close as you can get to a scam while still being legal. If you can call it that.

    Hello Joanna,

Thank you inquiring about my apartment for rent – it is available for January or February move in (possibly immediately for the right tenant). I am scheduling viewings of the unit and would be interested in showing you around the building. I have attached a few pictures of the unit for you – the apartment is available furnished or unfurnished depending on your needs.

Due to poor renting experiences in the past I am requesting that you confirm you have a reasonable credit score and would like to hear more about your current employment to avoid dealing with under qualified tenants.

I would suggest getting a free report from http://www.freeuscreditreportonline.com which requires less than 3 minutes and has no cost. No viewings will be allowed until I have received your score, this will also be helpful for other properties you are looking at and is a standard in pre-rental screening procedures.

I am asking that you complete the report and provide me with the numerical score, please DO NOT send the report as it contains sensitive information, you can print it for your records and bring it with you to the viewing.

If you can also tell me a little bit about yourself, your interests, and hobbies I would be interested in hearing more about you. Please note that I have received quite a few emails already and have a few showings scheduled for later this week so the quicker you can get the report and drop by to view the unit the better.

I look forward to hearing back from you,

The number given on the charge was 877-486-9902. When you call a live-sounding person answers. Do not be fooled. Just say “I want to talk to a live person”. You will be directed to a “manager”. Mine was Lance (employee # 9616). He informed me that the charge was actually a refund and it shows up a a charge first then reverses to a refund. First of all….NO. Second why would you need to refund something you didn’t take. Plus I NEVER authorized them to use my account. I let my bank know and changed my debit card. We will see….

These types of company’s are trolling craigslist.org and proactively working with scammers involving appartment/room rentals.

The scam runs that your credit to be checked is a requirement, they sign you up, and abandon the trans, no see place, no further contact, no response. Meanwhile your busy looking for a place and end up with several of these.

I hope the scammers or credit monitoring agent/employee commision is worth the limp, I’m looking for ya. A theif is a theif…

my review isnt good I didnt even want to be involved with this company i only got involved because it was said i needed to be validated in order to locate unclaimed property missing money! i thought they was legit being from a gov`t locator site.they said a 7 free day trial to check your credit report on all three major reporting agencies,i guess i was charged a dollar to my debit card for this authentication. oh i was able to ref the credit bureaus but i didnt think i needed this reporting to go on over the 7 days well todayas trying to logon Profinity site to cancel,I couldnt cause i was getting an error that my email address or password was wrong well iknew my email address was right but was possible i had forgotten my PW SO for about 2 hours i was requesting an email to reset my password about 20 times i never got an email to do so, so after not getting any response i didnt want to have my account charged again so i called my bank to stop any charges from Profinity I ehaving to cancel my card to do so,and now fro that i will need to get another new one at my expense so all in all I`d say that company is not someone to trust

Was house shopping and asked to submit to free credit score in order to determine eligibility. Screen flashed over and told me i was not eligible for the service and if i had any questions, call some number. I figured i knew the reason and left it at that. A week later i notice i was charged 58.95 and called to dispute. I was told i would get my refund in 10 business days,22 days went by and no refund. I call again and i am told i should be receiving my refund in 48 hrs. I call back after receiving a misleading email and was told to expect it in 3 days! He just added a day. I realized i was speaking with a machine and asked for a supervisor. I was on hold for 10 min then i was hung up on. Called the next day ,spoke with a person who gave me the run around. Realized this is a scam and went directly to my bank to have the issue resolved

DONT TRUST PROFINITY!!!! It is a company that takes your money right away without authorization. I signed up for it, but had a sketchy feeling about it because it wasnt even a free trial, and immediately looked it up for reviews. As soon as I saw that most people were being ripped off, I transferred my funds to my savings then I called customer service for profinity and i got this guy who would not let me talk, and did anything in his power to try to talk me out of cancelling my account. He wouldn’t let me talk! He even said that hes about to leave right now, so he cant cancel my account. And from there on he kept on talking about their GREAT coupon service, well anyways I called again and got the same guy! So I hung up and called a different number and finally got my account cancelled within the first hour after I created the account. So I only got charged a dollar and luckily not the $50 or even the $80. Make sure you cancel right away! Or you will be charged large sums!

Ippose you have the phone # that worked for you on Profinity do you??. i had a # that was listed when they pulled the $1 and its no good so unless you could help me with a phone # i`ll have to cancel my debit card to stop further charges
send me an email to 56gtmanone85@gmail.com or however you can cause it told me there was a 7 day free trial but i forgot what they said would be the actual monthly charge if not canceled and i tried to access my account online to cancel it but it tells me my email address or password is wrong and i know my email address is right but the pw could be wrong so after 20 attempts to request a reset to my pw i still have yet to get a response to either find out what my PW was or reset it

I just found two pending charges today from them, one for a dollar and one for 88.95. I immediately called my bank, cancelled my card, and faxed my bank a dispute form on the two charges.

I have been seeing emails from profinity for a while in my inbox, but marked them as spam (which they obviously were). I remember now getting a call from a young guy who claimed I’d filled out a survey wanting information on some obscure college, I told him he was mistaken (I hadn’t) and hung up.

I also looked for some jobs on craigslist, but never gave out information. I have a Monster.com account, and I’ve ordered some stuff on Amazon, but I don’t think either of those could be it.

I honestly can say that until I researched the charges to my account, I had never been on this companies website before, and had no clue what they even were.

Hopefully I’ll get my money back…I’ve already sent them an email demanding they cancel my account. Maybe I should call too for good measure.

I have use profinity you all just can;t say that the company is a scam some of these jobs are scams they just add the company to there profile to get people to give out there info. You have to read about these jobs more carefully you just can’t go around blaming Profinity cause its not there fault. When you signup for a trial period with any company you know its a trial Aint nothing FREE in this world so if you don’t cancel they do have the right to bill you its stated in the outline when you do signup. So once again stop blaming the company READ before you assume someone is a scam.

This company is a scam. So I got the pop up for shopping a local retailer and did the survey. It then asked if I would like a free gift card. I left my email address and number. On Friday I received a call from Profinity. It was an automate male voice. He walked me through the registration but something didn’t feel right. While going through the screens I saw the customer care number and decided to write it down. I am glad did. At the end of the call the “representative” gave me a number to call to cancel or ask questions. I found out he gave me a wrong number on purpose after I read it back to him for verification. The wrong number he gave me was 1-877-486-9962. The correct number is 1-877-486-9902. Strike one. Then right after I hung up I checked my account activity. I saw a$1 hold ( ok) and a $29.95 hold (not ok). I call back within
10 minutes and talk to billing and am informed that I cannot get my $30 back even if I cancel in 10 minutes. I then proceed to tell the representative where did it say it would charge me for looking at my credit score? I found out the $30 is for looking at all 3 and it is not free. This company is horrible and I will never do any offers online again. Profinity is the worst!!!!

I have no idea how they got my number, but I received a phone call saying I’d completed a survey and they wanted to give me my “free Walmart gift card”. I told the guy that I never did any survey, and he said “look, it shows in my system that you did the survey, I’m just trying to help you get a free gift card”.

Already, red flags were everywhere. I’m SUPER careful with my information and never trust anything online. The guy then asked me to go to profinity.com and do an “assisted credit score”. These jerks make commission on scamming people!

I quickly googled Profinity and found this website. My worries were confirmed.

I told him I only check my credit score on government approved websites and he hung up on me. I called back and got an automated message, and added myself to their DNC list.

    Crisis averted. Thank you guys.

Just like pretty much everyone on here I received a similar email about a housing post on Craigslist. My boyfriend and I are looking for a house to move into and this 1 bed 1 bath brick farmhouse sounded almost too perfect, guess it was. When I went to do the credit check I didn’t feel right about it and decided to look into this “legitimate” website and found all these comments. This is what my email from Louann stated…really sucks that you have to worry about stuff like this when you’re looking for a home or job.

    Hello Kelly,

First and foremost, thank you for your interest in the home. I am available to show the house this week if that fits your schedule.

Just to give you a little more information about the home, the water, trash
and garbage are paid by us. The security deposit can be paid in 2 installments if money is tight. (I know how that can be).
The house has a fenced in backyard and we do allow pets. The deposit per pet is a one time payment.
The house includes a washer and dryer, and we pay for lawn care so the renter does not have to cut the grass.
There is NO application fee (our company policy and guarantee).

I will be happy to show the house at an agreed upon time and date but I do require that all applicants and additional renters who will be living in the home complete a free credit report to ensure their eligibility.
I have so many people apply for homes that I have to make sure they are qualified renters before I show the property.
This ensures neither of us will be wasting our time.

It is okay if you have bad credit (trust me). We just check to make sure that you don’t have several evictions on your record. (We won’t rent if you have 3 or more evictions on your record)

I also had to recently stop giving out the exact address of rental properties before I am able to show them because last time I did that the house was vandalized (I will be glad to send you the address right after your reply) I assure you though that this is a very safe neighborhood. I actually lived in this home for 2 years (very cozy).

As soon as you can, please click the link below and go to the secure website to complete the free credit report (takes about 30 seconds)
Once you complete, I’ll call you once I receive the information from the credit company (very quickly usually).

    http://csbyourscore.net/
(Copy and paste this link to your address bar if it is not clickable)

*** You don’t have to send me your credit report.
Once you fill out the report the credit company automatically forwards me your name, email address and whether you have
had any outstanding evictions in the past 5 years to determine your renter eligibility. This is the only information I am
interested in. This is a soft credit report so it won’t touch your FICO score (which is why we work with them).

This process turns some people off, so I completely understand if you decide not to complete them. In that case, good luck with your home search. I just want to be honest with you up front about our process, which does a good job of protecting us from ineligible renters and scammers. Also, the site above is one the safest and most secure website for credit reports in the world, which is good for peace of mind. I have worked with them personally for a couple years now.

If you are truly interested in proceeding, take a moment and fill out one of the reports. Let me know when this is done and we can then work out the time and date to go see the home. Email me back once you access your fresh report. I will be forwarded
the information. (Make sure to include a valid phone number. I usually call within 6 hours of submitting your report. Then I can forward you the address and we can set up a time to tour the home.)

If eligible you will also be sent an email with my office number so we can set up a time to go see the house and discuss any other questions or concerns you may have.

    Thanks,
    Louann

I just received this same exact email for a place I’m looking at for here in little rock, arkansas! I am so glad I came here to look and the reviews about this credit place! I only filled out the info just before asking for the social and credit card numbers. Knowing this all now, I think I’ll go for another place!

I got this exact same email from a Carl Jeffers! I was confused at first, but I realized it was from an inquiry about the address of a super-cheap rental that I had sent at least a week before, and not my most recent email inquiry.

It’s so suspicious. What legitimate company doesn’t let you know what area a house is in, and won’t even give you a phone number?

I’m going to reply to the email with this web address. I only hope no one got taken in by this particular message!

As everyone has stated DO NOT TRUST ANY EMAIL ASKING YOU TO CLICK ON LINK TO THIS WEBSITE FOR YOUR CREDIT SCORE. I have received the same email from numerous individuals while apartment hunting on Craigs List. I have also flagged those ads on Craigs List to help others avoid their scam. Thanksfully I goggle email addresses and links just to see if they are legit or not. Please be careful when apartment hunting or job seeking as people will try to scam you!!!

I received this email response from “Daniela Marcellini” after responding to a listing for an apartment in the South Bay area:

    Hi Debbie,

I am responding to the e-mail for the apartment. To see the unit please e-mail me the number of months or years you have working with your current employer, your yearly income, and your most recent credit score. Make sure that your credit score is recent (at least 1 week old).

If you don’t know your credit score, use the link below. It’s free to
    check your own score.

    http://free-credit-score123.info/linkcy/?id=31_46103032

As soon as I receive this information, I can set a show date. Thanks

    ***************************

Red flags popped up as soon as she requested for credit scores and directing me to an unknown site to input personal financial information. All this just to set up a viewing — no thank you!

For everyone else that have received similar responses regarding a job or apartment listing, keep in mind that every legitimate business should NEVER ask for your credit information upfront before seeing the apartment, or BEFORE the interview.

Also, legitimate companies seeking to hire will run their own background check, with YOUR permission, through a legitimate background check company (ie. LiveScan). Background checks are only requested AFTER the interview, AFTER you qualify for the job, and AFTER they have weeded out all other applications via interview process.

I hope no one else falls victim to scams like these. I’m usually very aware of identity theft scams, but my desperate housing situation almost led me to drop my guard and I nearly fell for it. I’m very grateful to have come across this site!

I accidentally clicked on an ad while I was applying on a state website. I was texted a promotional code and promptly deleted it. Next, my phone started ringing every half hour from an out of state phone number. When I finally answered, I got a high-pressure salesman assuring me that if I signed up for the free trial I would receive a $50 MasterCard and the service would cost me nothing for 30 days. He avoided all of the questions I asked him and just kept saying it was free and would not cost me a dime. I let him walk me through his website up to the page that asks for a credit or debit card. That’s when I woke up. I asked him to remove my number from his list to call, he argued with me, I screamed at him to remove my number as he was STILL arguing with me and hung up on him. They got my ss number, but not my debit card. Avoid these people. If they call, threaten to report them to the BBB or other agency and then do it! I reported them to the one here in Baton Rouge. This is a HUGE SCAM!!!!

I got the same e-mail as everyone else except from an Alice Johnson. Thought it was fishy not only because of this credit check but because I recieved the e-mail with NO delay at all. Will not be using this website to check my credit score thanks to the reviews.:

    Hi,
I’m sorry for the delay! I have been very busy the last few days. The great news is that the rental is still available . There was a potential leaser who had serious interest in the rental, but he had bad marks on his credit report, so we need to start showing it again, as we want to get it leased ASAP. Considering you had emailed us initially, regarding the property, we are giving you first right of refusal.

The unit is in great condition. We know a lot of prospective renters want to take a quick look at the property, regardless, our policy is not to divulge the address, as there are some lunatics in the world with bad intentions. The last time we gave out the address without verifying the prospective tenant. We don’t want that to happen again. I’ll confirm what you probably already know this property is gorgeous! A unit like this would typically go for much more, but again, I need to lease it right now, which is why the lease rate is a tremendous value.

The utilities are intact and can be switched over to you once the lease is signed. You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone – if you decide to have these services. Pets are allowed but just need to know the size and breed for our records. The rental term is 12-month lease, but can be switched to a 6-month lease, if that is more favorable. The only requirement is that you send us 30 days notice, when you want to move out of the unit.

If you would like to set up an appointment, go to the link below and request the free copy of your rental / credit report. The scores are insignificant – we realize many folks have had foreclosures, bankruptcy, etc. For insurance purposes, we are required to have a report on file from every prospective tenant. Here is the link: http://tnylnk.net/2e75806543bd4e33f13e7312b0a443d1

The only pages we require are regarding your rental history. You just need to bring that to your appointment to see the property.

My availability over the next few days is going to be constrained, but I will try to be available between 10am and 8pm. After you have completed the online process, let me know that you have a hard copy and I can schedule an appointment at the rental.
    See you soon!

I was planning on moving and was looking for a job and received an email back from a craigslist application similar to the one given. I went through the process of going through the credit check and my mouse was hovering over the 3-credit scores (the one you have to pay for ) and I saw the fine print stating if I clicked that button I would immediately be charged $39.95. Well I tried to move my mouse away and my touch screen on my laptop took it as a click and charged me the $29.95. So I called their customer service right away and they did nothing for me. I called their supervisor and he told me that they charged me twice (so roughly $60) and he would take off one payment for me, but not the other. They stole my money!

I mistakenly enrolled in this program on 08/24/2012 and when i realized that it was not what i was looking for i called and cancelled the very same day. The representative i spoke with by the name of Robin with agent #8638 assured me that she had cancelled my subscription but not without first attempting me to keep the free trial wich she stated at the time was a 30 day free trial. I advised no i do not wish to keep this subscription. She then claimed that she had cancelled my subscription and provided me with a confirmation number and assured me once again there would be no further charges. On September 02,2012 i noticed a debit from my account for the amount of $59.96 from procredit. Immediatly i called my bank and was provided a number to call which indeed was the phone number for Profinity. I had to call at least 10 times and spoke to at least 6 different representatives who all were very rude and argumentative, the last representative i spoke with by the name of Vanessa with Agent ID2358 claimed to be a supervisor and assured me again that the subscription was cancelled and they issued a refund for the amount of $58.95 and it will take 7-10. They are full of crap, I also filed a claim with my financial institution as well. I wish there was some easy way to get the word out about this company and how they are scaming people. I wrote a letter to the head of office however i doubt seriously that anything will be done being they are most likely behind this scam.

I have been looking for apartments in the baltimore area affordable for a college student so I looked on craigslist. I am very familar with craiglist so I know there a number of scams on there so I I checked to see if it was legit and now I see its not this is what they emailed me Today!
Hi, This property is still for rent. We had an offer from someone but they decided to move out of town. You were the second person to respond to us. We are eagar to rent this property so we are offering the first months rent waived.

If you are still interested, we ask that all applicants fill out a rental/score report. We use this company for all our listings. The score is not all to important to us we just need to make sure you do not have more then two evictions in the last six months.

Go here and indicate you would like the free report: http://rentalggp.com/home2

Do not send it back to us. We can just pull it up in the system and look. Once we see that your rental history for the last six months is good we will call to set up a showing. So, please get that done and email us back your phone number and i will call to setup a showing. Thanks- Karen Johnson.

and then when I told her Im not putting my social or my credit card on that website she sent this

Thanks for responding. This is a 2 bedroom located by the high school. It has been fully remodeled with fresh paint and new floors. Its furnished with a stove fridge washer and dryer. Its rents for $400 a month all utilities included, plus $300 deposit. We do waive the first months rent meaning once the deposit is paid you can move in and rent is not due till the second month. All applicants must submit a rental report before showing. So please get that done and email me back and i will call to setup a time to show you the property.

I got a very similar e-mail pattern. I think it is a scam. Here is the email:

    Dear Applicant,

Thanks for your reply. Your next step in this hiring process is to complete our new employee questionnaire.
Job requirements: Outstanding written/oral communication skills in order to perform duties including responding to phones and taking messages, the preparation of mailings, the order and maintenance of supply amounts, elementary copying, common filing and emailing, and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Please note that our company requires all potential employees to have a credit score on file for your interview. We ask for this because you will have access to company credit cards for business expenses. We request that each potential employee complete this as this ensures us that our future employee is credible, trustworthy and can be an asset of the company.

Please also note that because of the recent economy we take in to consideration that there may be some blemishes on a large portion of applicant scores. Rest assured that your credit scores itself isn’t very important, but the report is still required by our company.

Please complete and print your credit score by clicking
    http://fumarassociates.com/official.free.credit.report/id008

You will need to bring a copy with you to your interview. This credit score costs you nothing and is completely secure from the most trusted credit score website online.

Please complete this first step ASAP as we only have 48 hours to set up interviews. When you have completed the credit score reply to this email and we will set a time for an interview.

Each time I called, they said that credit report is on the way. it never reached me. while i canceled, they said that it will take 7-10 business days to get credited to my account. they make use of our money during this time. this is how their game plan goes.

Man the same thing happen but thanks to all you guys wonderful post I didnt give up any personal info I too was looking for a place to live in Ft Lauderdale and got that classic response

    Hello,

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. The good news is that the place is still available.

We had a tenant confirmed and ready to move in just under a week ago, but they completely changed their plans and ended up moving out of state. You were the first to reply about it since it was put back on the market.

We understand you would probably like to do a drive-by to see the property. I would simply give you the address and let you go by to see it first; however my husband and I have taken a very strict stance on not blindly giving out the address unless the tenant is serious. We have heard some real horror stories about property management companies who have been too free with their information and wind up with a home that is un-rentable due to vandalism, theft, etc. Please understand the home has been kept up properly and had a professional, top-to-bottom cleaning and a fresh coat of interior paint. We know that you will love it when you see it!

If you want to go ahead and schedule a time to come walk through the property, use the link below and print off a copy of your credit report. We don?t believe in charging application fees. Our tenants just access their own credit reports as they contains sensitive information. Please do not email your report to us; we ask that you hold onto it until we meet to walk through the property. Poor credit is OK, the scores themselves aren’t what we are looking at. We are just verifying that there are no evictions within the last 6 months or lease related judgments.

Use this link to access your report: http://profinity-reports.com/freecredit-report/

We are pretty flexible as far as times go to show you the place. Just about any time after 10 a.m. and before 8:30 p.m. should be fine. Just let me know when you have everything printed out, and be sure to include a telephone number to reach you at. I will call you to confirm a time to meet.

I got the same email word for word! This is just amazing. Glad I did a search on “Samantha Merrick” “Merrick Rental Properties” led me to this webpage! Wow.

Use this link to access your report: http://profinity-reports.com/freerental-report/

We are pretty flexible as far as times go to show you the place. Just about any time after 10 a.m. and before 8:30 p.m. should be fine. Just let me know when you have everything printed out, and be sure to include a telephone number to reach you at. I will call you to confirm a time to meet.

    Sincerely,

    Samantha Merrick

I saw a posting on Craigslist for an apartment in the LA area–it was a beautiful place and the rent was on the lower end for the area (but believable). There was no address, just a general area/intersection.

I sent the poster an email and got a reply back letting me know that she would set up a viewing time after I sent her my credit score, the length of time with my current employer and my annual income. She added “If you don’t have a current credit score, you can visit this website” and directed me to Profinity. I’ve never been asked for a credit score BEFORE viewing an apartment and got suspicious. And wouldn’t you know it, there is a long list of people who have been directed to Profinity via rental or employment postings on CL.

So yeah, looks like a scam. I didn’t sign up for Profinity’s service or give them any personal information. And I just flagged the CL posting.

I responded to an ad on Craigslist for a house to rent and got the same junk email that everyone else has received! I knew something wasn’t right because the rent was too cheap for San Francisco! Here’s the bogus email:

    Hello,

Rental is still available. We thought we had the place rented to a couple we showed it to last week, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible. You were the second one to email me about it.

I am sure you will want to do a walk through of the property, but my husband doesn’t want me to advertise the address as a measure of safety. Last time we did that without verifying people, the empty property was broken into and vandalized. We don’t want that to happen again! You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone, if you decide to have these services. Just to confirm, we DO allow pets at this property.

The rental term is 12-month lease, but can be switched into a 6-month lease if preferred. We just ask that you give us fair notice if you are moving out.

If you would like to set up an appointment, go to the link below and request the free copy of your rental report. We use this site for all the properties we manage. Just fill out the form and indicate that you want the free report. The actual scores aren’t important to us, it’s more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no previous property related issues.

Get your report here: FREE REPORT

Remember, we only need to see the page about the rental history. That will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing.

Wow, I am SO glad I came to this site!! I responded to an ad on craigslist for beautiful 2 bedroom home in Ann Arbor, MI that was only $400/ month (first red-flag!) I asked a series of questions like why it was renting for so low, what the security deposit was, were utilities included, etc. I got a long email back without any answers to my questions except that it was priced low so it could rent fast, they wouldn’t give me the address for fear of it being vandalized and then asking me to get a copy of credit report from Profinity!! Ugh..I’m not stupid. SO glad I did my research first!! Thanks guys!

I did the same as all of you and replied to a job listing on craigslist (for an optometrist assistant) that sounded legit, but like it paid too much to be true. I was fooled anyway. I was sent to fill out an additional application. Then to get a credit check, I was wary, but the website looked so legit. Then after I, very stupidly, gave them my card info and s.s. number decided to do more research. I immediately called my bank and canceled my card. They charged me a dollar and I knew that there would be more where that came from.

If not a scam, using fraudulent methods.
Cloned the site of Children and Families in Florida using a similar direction. I could not remember the web address and search in Google and the first link between seem right. Appeared an identical site and enter my data I was thinking that the actual site. In the process I requested a credit check, saying that from now on the government the need to process any request, and asked me data from a credit or debit card. Then Profinity redirected to the site. Then I turned all very strange. I looked for on Google and I found the real site and I realized the deception.
Inmediantamente call a number Profinity to cancel my membership. Supposedly I canceled it, they gave me a confirmation number and everything. Then a few days later a transaction on my account for 29.95.
First, how is that to sell a service, through a fraudulent site, where did I enter data as confidential as Social Security number, my address, phone, debit card number and all they could think to ask, just as one would in an official government site.
Second, as I charged for a service already canceled. The site says there is a trial period (which is not very clear how long) and then they will charge you a fee if not canceled. I canceled the same day, just 15 minutes after signing up and still charged me.
I made my complaint to the Business Bureau, I put a dispute in the bank and I’m filling the internet with complaints.
    My recommendation, avoid Profinty.

I put in a search for government help with low income housing for seniors and in the middle of the government site the statement reads you need a credit report to fill out this application for government assistant pay only $1. if it’s on a senior’s site sponsor by the government I know the government does provide free services for seniors so why would I not pay the $1.00 thinking that would be it because the government would pay anything else or no charges at all would be taken from my account being that I am a senior on a fixed social security income.

This scam artist on 7/31/ when social security checks came in deducted 89.00 of my bill money from a once a month check i get from social security. I need my bill money now. I call the scammers and they immediately said they would refund my 89.00 and even gave me some confirmation number on 7/31/2012. I called on this past friday aug. 10th to find out where my refund was and to my surprise it was not put in at all though they had a cancellation record. I think they do not intend on giving me my 89.00 back and if they are it is overdue..I want my money and i want it now i have already filed a charge with bbb, scammers, i am going on every site that exposes fraudulent companies who take advance of low income persons especially seniors online. I was told I needed to do a credit check in a response from Craigslist ad in order to view a home. I received the same email many others have on this website. Here it is, word for word:

    Hello,
I apologize for not responding to you earlier, I have been extremely busy the last few days!
The good news is that the rental is still available! We had a tentative agreement from the first person we showed it to, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible. You were the second one to email me about it, so its only fair to give you the first shot.
We know you will want to do a walk through of the property, but my husband doesn’t want me to advertise the address as a measure of safety.
The actual scores aren’t important to us, it’s more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no previous proerty related issues.
Get your report here: FULL REPORT

Remember, we only need to see the page about the rental history. That will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing.
As far as getting together to see the property goes, I am available to show it any time from 10:00 am on, for the next few days. Let me know once you have it printed out, and we will set up a time to do your walk-through.
Thank you once again for your interest!

Something smelled funny about these guys – when I got onto the 2nd page of the site, before I put in my social sec #, I Googled them and got to this review site. Thank goodness I did. What a scam. Same thing as others: a sublet on Craigslist that asked us to get our credit score before they could do a showing.

    Here is the email:

    From: Daniela Marcellini
Subject: Re: $825 / 1br – Gorgeous Furnished RM w/ All Utilities Included (Hollywood)
    To: xxx

    Hi xxx

I am responding to the e-mail for the apartment. To see the unit please e-mail me the number of months or years you have working with your current employer, your yearly income, and your most recent credit score. Make sure that your credit score is recent (at least 1 week old).

If you don’t know your credit score, use the link below. It’s free to
    check your own score.

    Hello

Thanks for getting back to us to let us know your interest in the positions we had listed on monster.

The position your submitted resume matched to were.

    Office Administrator- $22.00 – $24.00 Per Hour

Some of the responsibilities for this position.

    * You will be answering the phone and taking messages when applicable
    * You will be scheduling the company meetings
    * Running errands for the company for things such as purchasing supplies and making bank deposits.
    * While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) issued in your name for all business purchases.

We are in the middle of processing applications and currently have 7 other applications along with yours that we are considering, so you can consider yourself on the short list to be hired.

Please help us to express-process your application by performing one of the two mandatory steps that our company must take for all new employees. Since we run both background and credit reports on all applicants , you can help us by obtaining your own current credit report, speeding up the process immensely. We have found it’s best if you have it in advance to make sure there are no surprises on it and confirm that your history is correctly listed.

Both myself and the company would prefer that you use this company – HERE – to acquire your credit history because they’re offering the check at zero cost to you (unlike other places) and their results contain the most precise details I’ve come across, but feel free to use any service that suits you.

Once you submit all of the needed information, they are going to show your own personal report. Please print it out and save it for the meeting. Please do not e-mail me the report, since it will have personal content. We can go over it when we meet in person. Should you have a lower than expected credit ratings, it will never prevent you from gaining a position with us. WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW YOUR SCORE.

When your finished please e-mail me back at ( job-mc4236@hotmail.com ) with the subject “My Availability” to let us know you obtained a current copy of your credit history along with your availability and we will contact you the beginning of next week to arrange an interview.

I’m looking forward to your quick response.

    Hello,
We really do appreciate your interest and want to say thanks for E-mailing us about the job position.
As the Human Resource manager I am pleased to see you are serious about the job position.

You certainly seem qualified for our job position and more so than the other six applicants we received applications from, so we are pleased about you contacting us.

We would prefer to schedule a time to talk to you further, in all likelihood next Thursday.

What we offer is great benefits to all our full time employees, part time employees have limited benefits as they receive health care only.

    Benefits include:
Medical and dental, eye care, life/disability insurance, tuition plans after 6 months, sick/vacation time and 401k.

The job position will require you to work in a position that permits you access to company cash as well as customers’ credit card info and company goods and supplies so it’s our policy that we do a financial and criminal background check on all employees to verify applicant registration info.
Anything more than a speeding ticket, such as a misdemeanor or felony will disqualify you from employment.

It’s our corporate policy that we do a financial verification check on all employees to verify applicant registration information and citizenship to ensure that we don’t hire any illegal aliens.

    Additionally please let us know:
-Whether you prefer a morning interview 8-12 or an afternoon interview 2-6
-2 personal references should we feel the need to contact them
    -4 business references as well
-Working number to call you and confirm your interview date
We ask that you make sure your information is accurate in your response to us

I will give you a tour of our facilities, discuss pay structure and go over job duties.

However, before I can schedule a formal meeting, we require that you obtain a recent credit score.
We enforce this because our company had a few bad incidents with prior employees taking advantage of access to company assets.

    You can receive that here
    http://www.creditscoresafely.com/?9za5wd=p85nrh

PLEASE DO NOT email us your report. Instead print it out and bring a copy to the interview as we will need to have it on file.
Since this is just a pre-screen formality your actual score will not affect your chances of being hired.

If you do not wish to send in a recent credit check, unfortunately we will need to speak with our second choice.

We are looking to fill this position immediately so do not hesitate.

Reply with the “task completed” and an availability time to set up an interview.

    Have a great Monday

    Brenda Collins
    Human Resource manager

This is a scam. Firstly i have been on many interviews and i have never had a reply in the form of an email. If someone wants to interview/hire you.. They call you, not email you! As i applied for a receptionist position, for them to want to do a credit check, would make no sense. I just got an email saying that i would be a perfect fit for the team and they want to do an interview Monday or Tuesday, but want me to fill out the credit report and email them my confirmation number. I already knew it was fishy but i clicked on the link to see what they wanted. They want a social security number and a debit card number! Come on, what a joke. Complete scam.

I smelled a scam, here is what they sent me (they placed a phony ad for an apt on CL) which took me to a “recommendation” and link to the Profinity website…

    Hello,

I apologize for not responding to you earlier, I have been extremely busy the last few days!

The good news is that the rental is still available! We thougth we had the place rented to a couple we showed it to last week, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible.

I responded to a post on Craigslist(Posting ID:3130912939) as well. I just received an e-mail from Alyssa Madison “Hiring Manager” saying I had to use their link to verify my credit report for a “high financial job”..I knew something was wrong there… Since I haven’t printed my credit report this year, I went through annualcreditreport.com- the only place the FTC recommends for free credit reporting. I printed my report from Experian and e-mailed her back asking , if she knew I would be charged and that I got my report from elsewhere …I have yet to get an e-mail response or a call. Plus financial institutions can request the report themselves..why would a job make you pay for something like this? I don’t know who they are or where they are operating out of, but they need to be shut down.

Watch out for this one too. I went to submit my info and they asked me to register for a
Debit card. I clicked next without registering and they then sent me this back.

    Dear Applicant,

Thank you for expressing your interest in the available position posted on Craigslist.
We have both part time and full time position available with optional benefits package or pay raise after 90 days. You may not be familiar with all the requirements for this position, the first week is paid on the job training in which you may learn new skills or refresh skills you already have.

As of right now, this employer needs someone to fill this position immediately – we would like you to come in to complete the hiring process as soon as possible. When can you come in? Our offices are open from 8AM to 4PM, Monday through Saturday. My name is Isabella and I’ll be the one interviewing you for the position. The interview is more of a requirement than anything else, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t be hired for the position and I would like to interview you as soon as possible. This position is scheduled to start next week.

For the first 90 days you will be considered a temporary employee and paid by our company. After 90 days you will become a permanent employee and paid directly by your employer using their payroll system. Our company has thousands of temporary employees nationwide so our payroll system is complex yet efficient. We suggest you register for a re-loadable debit card using the link below. This card will arrive in the mail before you receive your first payroll period. Our payroll system deposits the earnings of the previous week for each temporary employee on to their re-loadable card every Friday.

As of 6 months ago direct deposit or payroll checks are integrated in to our standard payroll process but you will receive a pay-stub every week. In the last few years we had too many employees complain about not having a bank account or having issues cashing their checks, so we decided to make a change and we’ve had a lot less problems with payroll in the last 6 months.

Our company is not affiliated with the company that provides this re-loadable card; it can be used just like a regular debit card that you can fund at your convenience online or over the phone. You can withdraw your money at any ATM without fees or pay bills online, it’s basically as good as cash. Think of it almost like a debit card that can’t overdraft like a bank account and charge you ridiculous fees.
Here is the link you will need to use for registration:
    http://careerorgan.com/reloadable.card/official/id005L

The link provided is unique to you. I will be calling you soon to schedule a time for you to come in to our office, please complete your debit card registration as soon as possible. If you do not register with us in the manner requested, we will not be able to process your application.

    Sincerely,
    Isabella Anderson

I applied for a job on Craigslist, went through the application and stupidly signed up for it. I found out it was scam almost immediately after and called my bank, and sure enough, there was a 29.95 charge on my account. I had to cancel and renew my debit card. I then called Profinity to cancel my account with them, they did say they would refund my money, but I don’t believe I’ll see that 29.95 again. Tomorrow, I go to the bank and cancel and renew my accounts. I’m so pissed that someone gets off on doing this to innocent people, how do they sleep at night?

I received an e-mail from a women who said they had tried to contact me about a job because they saw my resume online and they were a head hunter type of organization and so I clicked on the link to start the process to see what job I was being considered for and the second page was a link where I had to find out my credit score to “make sure I was a real person” (their exact words!) and there was a space where I had to enter my credit score. So I thought about it and decided to enter the name of the company – PROFINITY – onto the internet to see if anything negative came up and holy crap. I had no idea they were so deceitful! Thank goodness I had the sense to check out the company that was running the credit score because of my inner feeling that something wasn’t right because I have worked with head hunters before and even when you’re working with an agency, they NEVER ask you to gibe them your credit score so you can prove you are a real person! When I saw the space where they wanted my debit/credit card number, I was out of there. Sorry for those who lost $$ or have to jump through hoops to get it back………

Profinity is the WORST company to deal with. Do to error I was charged the $29.99 for the 3 credit scores. The company refused a refund. However legally a person can get out of a contract within 3 business days. Profinity has 3 days to cancel the contract and refund my money. If they refuse then my bank will refund me my money and go directly to Profinity. After almost 3 days of the WORST customer service I am done with them. My bank will now deal with them.

They are AWFUL! You follow all the steps to set up an account. When I setup my account, all of my husband’s information came up and NONE of my information.

I go to balance my check book and notice that a charge of $29.95 has been taken from my account. When I call I get told that because I viewed ALL reports from all 3 credit bureaus; which I did not do and this is an nonrefundable charge. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.

What a scam, I am so livid and upset at my own stupidity. There is a valid FREE site that lets you view your credit score ONCE per year – www.annualcreditreport.com In addition, this site is sponsored by ALL 3 BIG credit bureaus.

I was looking for jobs and fell for this scam..There is a place in hell for thieves like this company…I never even clicked on to there site and answered any security questions and they still stole my money..The woman who answered from there said “I clicked on to get all 3″ I replied this is being recorded right”…she said “yes” I then said you are a liar! I hung up called my bank..which thank God is open on Saturdays and they helped me….Thus my venting over my own ignorance..I will never get my credit report to get a job..it may not be the highest score, but I was off the charts for stupidity!!!

A young man called me because I did a survey on line. I checked off credit report. He called me and said I would get my 3 credit reports. I submitted all the information he asked for but noticed on the page an amount of $29.92. He kept talking over me and never answered me about the $29.95. when I pushed the question, he hung up on me. I tried calling the telephone number he gave me and it was a bad number!

So I am on page 4 and fill out nothing else and called the telephone number that was on the web site. I was very upset and told the lady what happened. she said he should have told you to click the one button, not for the three credit reports. She closed the account and told me my money would be back into my account 7 to 10 days. I am disabled and am on a fixed income.

People should not have to go through this! Imagine if I had not called the company back, I would have lost the 29.95 and would continue to be billed that each month. I think the young man hung up because I asked tons of questions like how long is the trial period, took me a long time to get that out of him and it’s for 7 days. When I pushed the question about the money he hung up on me!

I am writing this in order to help other people to beware. I am ashamed that I fell for this.

I applied for a similar job and thankfully I didnt enter my SSN either. Your email is almost identical to what I got as well:

    Dear Candidate,

Your reply is definitely appreciated. We reviewed your response and we have seen that you are well qualified for the current job.

To remind you, the job is nothing difficult but requires: some oral and written communication skills and the ability to conduct general office assignments including answering the phone and message taking, the preparation of mailings, the order and maintenance of supply quantities, copy work, emailing, filing, and typing. Additional information will be given during the phone interview.

General Salary: You can earn up to 17.00 per hour after your initial paid training.
Benefits Policy: Dental and medical, eyecare, life/disability insurance, tuition reimbursement after 6 months, holiday/sick time and 401k.

While you are running errands, a company credit card is supplied for all business purchases. My company will require that you acquire a recent (past 14-21 business days) credit report. We are obligated to do it as we had some unpleasant experiences with previous employees.

Low credit score will not reduce the chances of gaining the job. I have to admit that I had a rather low score when I began. We are trying to complete the schedule for phone interviews immediately so please finish the report now so your record is complete.

Please perform the credit check at this website: http://iscscan.com/creditreport/submit
There is no cost for the trial and we have found that they have the most accurate scores.

You are not required to email us the full report. We do ask that you reply with your current score number, then please print the report or use the “save to email” option and have it ready for the phone interview.

Please reply with the score and available times for the phone interview. My availability for the phone interviews would be business days from 7 to 10 in the morning or 2 to 5 PM.

We are looking to fill this opening as quickly as possible.

    Have a great Wednesday,
    Thomas Carwin

    Scam:

    Hello,

I apologize for not responding to you earlier, I have been extremely busy the last few days!
The good news is that the rental is still available! We had handshake
agreement from the first person we showed it to, but now it seems that
they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible.
You were the second one to email me about it.

We know you will want to do a walkthrough of the property, but my
husband doesn’t want me to advertise the address as a measure of
safety. Last time we did that without verifying people, the empty
property was broken into and vandalized. We don’t want that to happen
again! You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone, if you
decide to have these services. Just to confirm, we DO allow pets at
    this property.

The rental term is 12-month lease, but can be switched into a 6-month
lease if preferred. We just ask that you give us fair notice if you
    are moving out.
If you would like to set up an appointment, go to the link below and
request the free copy of your rental report. We use this site for all
the properties we manage. Just fill out the form and indicate that you
want the free report. The actual scores aren’t important to us, it’s
more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no
    previous property related issues.
Get your report here: Credit Check
Remember, we only need to see the page about the rental history. That
will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing.
As far as getting together to see the property goes, I am available to
show it any time from 10:00 am on, for the next few days. Let me know
once you have it printed out, and we will set up a time to do your
    walk-through.
Thank you once again for your interest!

I jus got the same thing.. I put an ad on craigslist looking for an apartment then i got a email from eve fortney asking if i was still looking for an apartment and they had one in my area and very dependable prices i said yes i was interested then i got another email not even a sec later stating that they have to check my credit report and to go to profinity then forward my credit report and they can get in touch with me about where and when we can meet to check the apartment… This is wut i got

    Thanks for the reply!

The location is pretty close by where you specified in your post and rent is definitely negotiable. One month deposit is required but then utilities are included (broadband internet too).

The place is still available and we got about 4 others interested and right now we are asking everyone to fill out a credit check and then forward the number over to us. I suggest you go to Profinity because that’s where I had it done when I moved in. It’s free and this is the only way we can see measure financial responsibility.

Once we get the score I will forward you some pics then we can set up a time where I can show you the place and possibly arrange a move-in date.

    Thanks!

    Eve

P.S. The place is currently unfurnished but the landlord has furniture to furnish it if you need it to be!

Get scammed twice on Craiglist East Bay housing rentals. Got two e-mails from “Stacy” (from 2 different houses I was looking at). I went through their site, got my account cancelled before the “trial period” ended, but still got hit up for $29.95, which the supervisor said it’s because I had clicked on a button that gave me all three credit companies’ score. I went through the process again to see what she was talking about but didn’t see it. She said it’s on the page after I give my credit card info, which I wasn’t about to do again. Here’s what I got on e-mails from housing requests:

Got scammed by “Stacy” regarding a ground floor unit in Burlingame. Original Post:

“$1275 / 1br – Available immediately! Fully renovated 1br in a great location! (Burlingame)…..” the rest is the exact same email from previous reviewer.

I signed up on Monday for the free credit report and after emailing Stacy that I got the address reference page she wanted, I didn’t hear back from her for days. That’s when I got suspicious and found this website.

Just called the Profinity company from the number off their website (1-866-982-9708). Spoke with a customer rep who provided her agent number and after listening to my complaint, cancelled my services. Luckily I was well within my 7 day trial period. I’m no longer able to log into their website, so hopefully there won’t be any additional charges aside from the $2 “PRO CREDIT” charge that showed up on my online banking account day of my sign up.

    Sigh.

I have never written a review for a company before but I would to help out people from being deceived by Profinity. As soon as I enter my info to get my “free” credit report, they charged me 29.95. I called them up and the operator told me those were charges they needed to make because profinity paid to get the credit score. I told her I did not see anywhere in the website that they would charge that and she kept telling they did but I know it’s not true. Now I have to block my credit card so they don’t keep charging for something else, even though I cancel my membership.

Also, the link in the original email now forwards to ThinkCreditReports.com!!!

I can’t believe they have a pair of sites in rotation for this scan!!!

    “Hi there,

I’m so sorry for this…but the couple that was looking at the place
originally, actually came back and put their deposit down. I
mentioned that things have been hectic around here… I guess they had
been calling me frantically, and my phone was in a spot in our house
that, for whatever reason, gets really bad reception…so I didn’t
even notice they were trying to call back. Anyways, they just got
back in touch with my husband and signed the lease, and put down the
deposit and everything. I’m really sorry for all this confusion.

We own multiple properties in the area so we will definitely keep you

Yes this is definitely a scam. I was refereed to this site by a potential “employer” on craigslist. They basically wanted me to get a credit check done before they interviewed me. The major problem that I had was putting down all of that personal info onto a website that id never heard of, especially before I even had an interview or talked to anyone in person. The most bogus thing about it was that the “employer” stated that they would automatically recieve a confirmation from the website when my credit check was complete! Yeah, thats when I had to call their bluff, I wouldn’t trust this hiring process to save my life haha.

There is NO company that is going to job offer you without even talking to you via phone or something. This scam posts a job ad on craigslist. You reply, they email you back telling you they are job offering you but you need to go to….yes, you got it, click on the link….tada..Profinity. This you must do because they want a credit report because they don’t want to hire a thief! The woman sending the email is “Linda James” from Ruby Staffing Services, Inc. Can’t find the company by googling. Also, her email address is linked to a Linda Miller in NY.

This is a major SCAM even if you cancel before your 7 days they will not give you your money back. Once you sign up the next day they charge your card. But will allow you to cancel anytime after they have your money. But better believe they will charge you with misleading information on their website.

When I contacted the seller several times she just replied with this link to profinity and said I needed to print off my credit score and wouldn’t answer any basic questions. Thankfully I did not fall for this scam! Now she won’t respond at all. Her email address is jen@hotmail.com. BEWARE!!!

It is a scam and they will take your money in a heart beat. I am very pissed off and they will tell you anything in the book to not give you back your refund. I am writing a report to the BBB and FTC about this company, and hope they will NEVER be able to do business again.

This company is the epitome of a referral scam. The old bait and switch. The most offensive thing about them is how they pretend to not know that’s what they are. They will argue with you and defend their credibility to no end.

The only reason they are in business is because day after day people fall for their “free” offers and the job and real estate scams their affiliates post on craigslist, and they know it! I don’t know how these people sleep at night. Every day they are the cause of frustration, anger and all-around emotional pain for hundreds of people. Hundreds of people who had no idea what they were signing up for and wake up one day with no money in their account because “PRO*CREDIT” straight up jacked them.

Honestly, if you ACTUALLY want the “services” Profinity offers (which no one does) then you must be an idiot, so go right ahead. Otherwise, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

This is a scam. I responded to a listing for a rental house on Craigslist and was told that I must bring a credit report from Profinity. There is no rental house at the location mentioned in the ad and when I Googled the text of the ad, I found it was lifted, verbatim, from an old advertisement for a completely different house.

Been with profinity for almost a year now, I signed up mainly just for the coupons, but I’ve gotten so much more in return instead. I pay about 18 a month for this service, but I order pizza once or more a month, and i send the receipt to them, they send me 25 dollar rebate check in return, also early into your membership you will get a 50 dollar gas rebate, spend 10 dollars, get 10 dollars rebate check in return per visit till you get all 50 so technically early on you should be getting at least 35 dollars a month, +27 coupons a week, roadside assistance 3 times a year up to 100 dollars each incident ( i used this service already and all you do is call them and they send someone out( 1 hour response time for them to send someone to air up a flat tire of mine )it covers tows etc, i just didnt need that done , no charge at all, they pay right away so no need to wait for refund etc) you also get a free year subscription to a magazine of choice, lots to choose from.I chose that Seventeen magazine for my gf to read. Free long distance calling card to anywhere in the USA and Canada, they also have a gaming section on their site, wouldn’t say they are top of the line games, but games nonetheless, bottom line is this, I pay them 18 a month approx and I get 27 grocery coupons a week, 25 dollar rebate check for spending 25 dollars at any restaurant, occasionally gas rebate or Walmart rebates, spend 10 get 10 back etc, its free just gotta wait for the rebate checks, oh well :P I highly recommend people try this company out. It helps to have your own computer with a scanner so you can copy and send them your receipt thru the internet.

This guy works for them. He is sent here to monitor sites like this and the place Positive feed back about the site. Just another way for them to scam you. Do not listen to him. I was approached about a job, and was real happy I was. I have been out of work for 6 months now and still trying to make ends meet with unemployment. I eagerly followed the link from the email I received from a “legit” recruiter. I filled out all the info for the “pre-job” screening and at the end it gave me a link to Profinity to get a “free” credit report done. I wasn’t thinking..I was desperate… I need a job to support my family..so I followed the link and filled out the info. I woke up this morning to my wife asking who is “pro-credit” and why did they take $30 out of our account. This is a scam, and this guy jason…or anyone else who gives a positive story about this is working for them. I have been around enough to know better, but like I said, desperate people in desperate situations will do things they normally wouldn’t do. Its too bad that their are slimy company’s and even slimier people out there that prey on the desperate and weak. I now have to put a freeze on my credit and cancel my credit cards to be sure not to damage my credit.

I signed up to try their free service of viewing my credit ratings from all three bureaus.

Their site doesn’t tell how long the trial offer is valid for, nor do they tell what they charge.

I had opted for the free service to view my credit, yet when I cancelled it, they billed me me $29.95.

I called them, and they told me I had enrolled into a service where I was able to view all three credit ratings at once, and that the free service was only to view one credit rating. I was SHOCKED. The ad specifically said I had a free trial to view all three credit ratings.

Furthermore, when I asked to speak with a manager, they hung up after ‘supposedly transferring me’.

They also blamed me for enrolling into the paid feature, telling me I had done it incorrectly. As of this date, every time I have called them, they have instantly hung up on me when after I choose the option to speak to a representative.

I do not recommend their services to anyone, and would advice all other users to avoid their service.

Addendum: In the above, I have contacted them four times, each time resulting in a hang up when they said they would transfer me to a supervisor.

Sorry to hear ya got charged like that, I haven’t checked the free credit part since I had already did a free credit report with equifax prior to signing with profinity, some things ya really gotta read real close and make sure your not getting a charge, I read your above message to Michelle btw, Im in no way a troll, im surprised you thought it was only a free credit report site though, read my other message, it explains a lot more. I discovered profinity thru a game I play called Battle of the Immortals, by signing up for this site I was given in game currency and it was a 14 day free trial, I signed up for probably 30 deals on this game, I cancelled all but 3, profinity, gamefly and blockbuster online. As far as the hang ups go, I’m flabbergasted as to why thats happening, ive only called them the 1 time for a flat tire myself and was taken care of, they had a guy drive about 30miles from my location just to inflate my tire with air, but thats all i asked for, the guy came with one of those plug in portable air inflators that typically take 10-15min to fill up, but again just needed air, not a tow and i asked that guy how much they got paid for coming out this way, and it was like 15 bucks i think he said.

After signing up for a 7 day free trial to view their exclusive apartment listings for free for the first 10 days, which I had to pay $10 for btw. I was then directed to Profinity which wanted me to sign up for their free credit report service. All I wanted to do was look for a GD Apartment!!! Now they got my $10, I have no access to any apartment search engine and I have reported them to craigslist as a scam as they wanted my SS# to help me find an apartment. I get 27 grocery coupons that I chose, legal referral for me or anyone in my house, if I buy an airplane ticket in advance I can have my friend fly for free. I don’t fly that often but when I do I will definitely use that program. I think everyone looking to save money should join.
