Web Profit Club Reviews – Legit or Scam?
Web Profit Club is the latest version of the now infamous Google kit type programs. Most likely you came across WPC by following an advertised link or through a make money online mailing list you may be on.
The ads that promote programs like Web Profit Club are almost as bad as the program itself. They call themselves advertorials which is their way of saying an advertisement that looks like a real news source. The article features a story about a single mom with kids who’s turned her life around after she found the (insert whatever name they’re currently using) program.
The comments on the news article are fabricated and are used to further convince you that Web Profit Club is a legit program that will make you money. You can confirm this yourself by trying to add a comment of your own, which won’t get posted.
On some of these fake news sites they’ll even post a message saying that the comments are closed due to spam, a clever trick to avoid having to deal with people’s more critical posts and complaints. Another trick that they use to build your trust is to tailor the offer based of your IP address, so the newspaper will always appear to be from your hometown no matter where you’re from.
All these devices are used to sell you on Web Profit Club, sadly this not the first of these programs and certainly not the last. Prior to this one there was Home Income Profit System, BlackBelt Profit System, and a whole lot more.
It’s not hard for them to change names; they basically keep the sign up page the same only altering the title and maybe a few graphics. The reason for this is simple, they need to stay ahead of the bad press. After just weeks in operation negative comments about these programs begin to surface on work at home forums and consumer protection sites all over the internet.
Why do People Hate Programs like Web Profit Club?
If you took a look at their terms and conditions you’d immediately see why. They sell Web Profit Club as a trial for $1.97 but they follow that up with a disclaimer that reads:
2.1 By submitting an order, You agree to Web Profit Club, and bill me $69.99 every 30 days until I cancel. By acting today, I will get my first 7 days for just $1.97. I can cancel according these Terms . I also agree to the terms and conditions and Privacy Policy. I may cancel any time by calling is 877-669-2971, or by emailing support@webprofitclub.com.
2.2 You authorize Web Profit Club LLC to initiate debit/credit entries to your bank deposit account or credit card as indicated upon sign-up and enrollment…
This basically means that they’re going to charge you the money upfront then wait for you to cancel. The only organizations that use these types of trial charges are ones that aren’t confident in the real value of their product. They make their money not by helping people succeed with a work at home business but by counting on the fact that a certain percentage of customers will neglect to read the terms and conditions and forget to cancel the automatic monthly fees.
However there’s an even more disturbing fact revealed by Web Profit Club in the terms and conditions,
4.1 You agree that any disputed fee will not be charged back to Your credit card issuer. You expressly agree to submit in writing any objection regarding fees to 11136 Ferragamo CT Las Vegas, NV 89141
4.2 Web Profit Club LLC, in its sole discretion, shall determine the validity of Your objection and notify You of its decision. Should You disagree with Web Profit Club’s decision, You agree to mediate the dispute before litigation.
4.3 You agree to indemnify Web Profit Club LLC for any financial harm or any losses caused by Your objections to fees that does not comply with this Section. You will be held responsible for the reimbursement of any fees and losses incurred as a result of Your failure to comply with any provision in this Agreement.
4.4 Credit Card Billing Customer expressly agrees that if Customer pays by credit card, check or demand debit, Customer shall abide by the following statement: “I hereby authorize Web Profit Club LLC to initiate debit/credit entries to my bank deposit account or credit card.”
Here they basically state that you can’t tell them or your credit card that “you didn’t know there was a monthly charge” as a reasonable excuse to get your money back. If this really is the case then you would have to report these as fraudulent charges to get a refund. This is why when it comes to programs like Web Profit Club we’ve only seen negative comments from customers and the main reason why they’re never recommended.
Update: It appears that many people are reporting a similar scheme in which they’re being billed by “Web Profit Coach, LLC” out of Temple Arizona, 1210 Riverstone Ct. It’s not yet clear whether it’s the same company or a knock off of Web Profit Club but their M.O. is the same, cheap trial offer followed by high monthly payments. So beware of both these names.

They ripped me off for $99.99 plus $1.97, I e-mailed them for the last couple of months finally getting a e-mail on how to log on to the site and off course it won’t let me. Since so much time has gone by I can not get a refund from either, I feel like such a fool. If we did this we would be in JAIL! Does anyone know how I can at least report them to the Better Business Bureau? Thanks Jim from N.J.

Thank God I saw all the comments here and I didn’t do this!!!I was about to do this but I thought it would be better to google it before I do anything wrong. Don’t believe in these kind of websites…there is no way to make money so easy! Furthermore at the end you have to pay much more than 2.97… Don’t believe in it, it is a SCAM….they don’t say that you have to pay every 30 days 79.97 dollars!
September 18th, 2010 at 12:25 pm

I am not getting in because getting out is probably impossible

First’ve all Kim Barnes is not a Romanian name. Second, you cannot access that site from Bucharest so that kind of gives it away that its a scam. Why did they pick Bucharest I have no idea.

August 5th, 2010 at 9:49 am
I almost fell for it but I listened to the inner voice that said beware. I then looked it up and found my instinct to be correct. There are never any get rich quick schemes they are all scams. Hard work is how you get rich.

Wows thank you for letting me know ahead of time…I guess this is where you apply that old saying: “Watch and learn from the person who tried to grab the snake by the head and was bitten, so you won’t reach for it and get bitten as well…Thank you for not letting me get bitten…
August 5th, 2010 at 5:41 am

This is a scam!! I live in Columbia, so I decided to check it out by contacting Ms. McDonald. No such luck. This is a scam.
July 21st, 2010 at 8:58 pm
I almost went for it. What I found WAS that when I clicked on the McDonald story I it took me to a different site with a testimonial similar to the McDonald. By sheer luck I found this site. Thank-you for the information – I was almost scammed. I have been scammed so many times it is not funny.

@ Buddha:
You seem to be the only person who thinks this is not a scam, how do we know your not working for fraudulent company… sometimes companies pose as regular consumers to protect their company..
June 27th, 2010 at 11:20 am
My 18 year old daughter got caught in a scam when she went looking for her first job out of high school. Now I triple check every opportunity that passes our way. Thank you all for your postings.
June 19th, 2010 at 1:39 am
I am certainly glad I looked up this company over the net. I had no idea that this was nothing but a scam and I feel sorry for the ones that fell for the scam. I have been there and done that, so you’re not alone. I just wish that there was a legitimate work from home business, as I need cash now, not headaches and complicated crap that means nothing at all. It would be nice to find an online business that does NOT ask for your credit card / debit card and can give you 30 days or more to make your decision based on the so called kit that send you at no extra cost. AND IF ALL ELSE FAILS, THEY GIVE YOU A FULL REFUND AND YOU GET TO KEEP THE KIT, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. The people that bothered to make the online business (aka: the web profit club) in the first place, should be the ones losing money, not the people that are trying to learn the business and if at all possible, succeed from it.

I am currently on hold to have them explain to me what this charge is .. I have been on hold for 27 minutes, still #4 and every time they repeat that I am #4 the wait time goes up .. it is now 23 minutes.
I called my bank to have them try to take care of this for me because it has already been processed. I have to now cancel my card and get a new one so they don’t take from my account any more.
I remember this phone call .. I even told the guy that this was “not my cup of tea” and that I was not interested.
SCAMS .. don’t they realize that every penny counts .. it is my daughters first birthday today and I had to cancel of few of the things that I was going to do.
JERKS
June 17th, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I was a fool and signed up then did a little research on this company. I got the 1.97 charge, the 3.75 charge and then the 79.99 charge. I first emailed within 12 hours of signing up to cancel. Thought everything was taken care of only to find these charges on my statement. I sat on hold for 3+ hours to never speak to anyone. I finally phoned my credit card company and filed a dispute. I am sure they will get it all resolved for me.
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY, IT IS A SCAM!!!!!
June 13th, 2010 at 11:29 am

June 10th, 2010 at 2:59 pm
I just have one thing to say to all comments: Just because it ask you for more money that doesn’t mean that it’s a scam. 69.99 is a hosting fee no matter what site you go to they are hosting fees. Some are less than others. This one is 69.99 because this is a business and it’s gonna make you money. 70 bucks is nothing compared to your returns. Don’t let other people’s failures stop you from being successful. Everyone has to understand this site is helping people start a business. In business it takes money to make money. I don’t care if it’s a hot dog stand your still gonna need the condiments, the buns, and the wieners. You have to take risk and change your ways to be successful. If your content where your at financially..don’t take the risk to be successful. But if your hungry and want to change your financial situation…you HAVE to try something and stick with it. Whatever it is!
June 9th, 2010 at 11:43 am
I fell for it for like 5 minutes then I started seeing reviews they was charging me the 2.97 fee then 3 days later supposed to hit your account for another 149.99. I punched in a lot of information but when I saw this canceled my card. They called yesterday wondering why.. basically because the 3 days was up and they couldn’t get their 150 bucks! That was less than a week ago and they are running off the name Internet Cash Machine or ICM websites. If you select the link it does the same thing and takes you to the same web page… I felt stupid when I called the bank but I really needed the extra income and nothing was working. I’m going to check out the suggested web sites above but am going to look much deeper into them. This time I was only out about 3 dollars but I believe I’ve learned my lesson.
June 8th, 2010 at 3:42 am
I just today went through the complaint problem. On wee hours of June 1, I finally decided to check all this out, cuz I wasn’t sure. I never EVER saw another website except the blogsite I was on. I went through several scam alert sites, never saw anything concrete. Unfortunately, I didn’t do a quick BBB check. Thing is, I never was redirected to any site other than the blog url. And naturally being late, I didn’t even think to copy the URL. Doesn’t matter though, they’re saying 7 days. Not true. And there is still a truth in advertising law on the books.
I got popped for $79.99 3 days before I should have been, I had started calling these people early Saturday morning. To the tune of this line is too busy. By Monday, after hours of this all weekend (morning EARLY) I was getting too busy, then the eternal loop. Started at 52 minutes, went to 48, 37, 54, 38, 45, 34, 40minutes, etc. Did I mention I started at 7 a.m.? Again. THREE FULL DAYS of calling.
In between calling my bank to get my account protected, I sent off two emails to these “wipes”. I finally get through at 2:35 this afternoon. And get insulted, told I was stupid, I would receive no credit, and I did get a bit irate. I am calling the Atty. General, and am making sure the banks where I live are aware of these scammers.
I finally actually found the “real” supposed site for these punks. I never saw it when signing up. I have received NO “kit”, no mail, no email, and no product. They don’t care. They got one payment of $79.99 they’ll try their darnedest to keep. Thank heavens I have a good bank and they won’t let me default on my account. ;) Not everyone is so lucky.
Did I say….SCAM. Yes, I did. All the way down the line, these folks scam, lie, show bogus testimonials, hound you for even more cash, hide their thieving ways and make you pay for it. Show bogus commercials in your own home town.
Beware!
SCAM SCAM SCAM all the way thru.
June 4th, 2010 at 2:45 am
Glad I googled this…

June 2nd, 2010 at 2:37 pm
I was simply looking for a news story in my town when i was lured to their website by their made up news story page. They are so sneaky…it appeared to be a legitimate news story from my local news showing how a single mom with 2 kids is making lots of $$. There were favorable comments below the story…HOWEVER before I fell for this I googled them THANK GOODNESS…Scammers like this should be burned at the stake for misleading down on their luck out of work people!!!
June 2nd, 2010 at 10:36 am
I am one of the victim of this company. They ask me to pay $1.79 but when I check my account they took $2.13 and post dated $81.87. Hate it. Its too late for me to know about this.
June 1st, 2010 at 8:42 am
I was thinking about doing this. But then a little voice in my head said “something for practically nothing? You get what you pay for, if it’s too good to be true then it probably is”…I first of all searched for the name of the individual that was supposedly from around my area that was having so much success according to the web “news” site. No one by that name in that town. hmmmm…then I checked CNN to make sure they really had accredited this site, yeah, no. So I’m glad this info was posted. I was about to be succored. I did happen to see at the bottom of their web site that the $1.97 was just for the 1st week then you’d be charged $79.99. I thought, whoa! Better check this out. I should’ve known any how! I feel dumb but at least I stopped to check it out first. I hope others do the same!
June 1st, 2010 at 6:40 am
saw it on facebook, looked at it saw the $1.95, then decided to Google it so i went to exit then a window pops up that says save 5 bucks, so i thought if its 1.95 how do i save 5 bucks then i googled it and saw your site about scams how interesting. well keep up the good work thank you tim, reviewopedia.com very informative

I did it for .99 (I thought), saw the charge for 79.99 on my bank statement, called to cancel and I was 2 days too late. Like I have 79.99 to give a way to these jerks.

WHAT A RIPOFF X(
I feel really stupid for the fact that I took a vantage of this and paid them 10.95.They have my credit card number,Address and phone number.A week after I sign up for the HBB they called me and said that they needed 1.95 in order to set me up with my password in user’s name. But I am happy that I did not have any more money on my credit card. They needed 1.95 to set me up with my password.I was 50 cents short. It was G-D saying DON”T DO IT. G-d gave me WARNING’S. I was just about to go to Walgreen’s to get a money pack and they had just close. My mother had spend all of her money on her card. And I was keep missing there phone calls.See G-d gives people WARNINGS and he gave me warnings. My mother had warn me about the HBB scam web site over and over again.I am gonna try to get my money back as soon as possible.I”M SO happy that I found this web site on Google.THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY.PLEASE STAY AWAY It’s A SCAM! !!
May 20th, 2010 at 11:02 am
I was ready to sign up and decided to Google it and am glad I did. I am currently unemployed and can’t afford to lose any money.
May 18th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
I feel really dumb. I really need a job at home, and thought I had found one that would work. Sadly, this Co. caught my eye. Fortunately, my bank was on the ball, and called me to warn me to get rid of it, and cancel any bank credit they might touch. If you know of a legitimate home job , please share it. I need a job, but I don’t need more heartache. Thanks to all who read this.
May 14th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
I just fell for this as well. Waiting for my bank to file the dispute once the $79.99 charge posts. When I called “customer service,” I got a message saying the number is not in service. I feel stupid…chalk it up as a lesson learned.
May 6th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
Do not sign up for the trial offer. You are agreeing to pay $69.99 every month. BUYER BEWARE!!!
It is a scam and hard to get your money back…When you agree to the $1.97 terms you are agreeing to pay $69.99 to become a member.
May 4th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
A scam for sure. I just got off the phone with Angel Cruz, a female, who gave me the speech as described above. When I refused to give her my credit card number she hung up in a hurry. There a million of these operating in the internet.
May 3rd, 2010 at 11:52 am
I keep getting a phone call from this company (after inquiring online) that wants to charge me only a $1.97 for the Stay-at-Home job. The first thing they tell you is that this call is being recorded. So The rep. goes through this spill about the business and tells me its only $1.97 because “we know you made the inquiry because you wanted to make money not spend money”. And then they ask for my MC/VISA number. I told her they have a recording of what I say but I have no proof that is what they are charging. She says we are a reputable company and she would give me their phone number 877-669-2970 and address: 11136 Ferrago Court, Las Vegas, NV 89141. She said now I can get you started for just a 1.97 on your MC/VISA. I said I’m still not giving you my credit card number without checking you out first and told her she could call me back after giving me sufficient time to do my own investigating. I get off the phone and google their address. Wow! Was I right to question!! They are operating on this date (5/3/10) as “Web Process Coach”. IT IS A SCAM, STAY AWAY!
April 29th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
yeah i googled it right before i made the commitment total scam you guys i called the 877 # and there was no background operators just one guy sounding like he was at home weird thank you GOOGLE it really is your friend

Oh yeah! I Googled it (Google is your friend – well most of the time) because I knew it was a scam, just wanted to confirm with myself. READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS PEOPLE – well to be honest I just learned that.
April 28th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Thanks for this post revealing this Big Scam. I’m worried about this people scammed. And don’t try to buy a products without a minimum 30 days guarantee. Any good products are almost 30 days maybe 60 days guarantee.
Open your eyes, and don’t be fooled.
April 28th, 2010 at 8:12 am
IF YOU WERE CHARGED ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM THIS OR ANY OTHER SCAM SITE, SIMPLY CALL YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD COMPANY AND TELL THEM NOT TO PAY THE CHARGE. IF IT HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID, FILE A DISPUTE.
I WAS CHARGED THE 1.97 AND THE 69.99 AND GOT MY MONEY BACK INSTANTLY FROM MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY.
DO NOT LET ANYONE GET AWAY WITH STEALING YOUR MONEY. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER, NAME, ADDRESS, ETC. ONCE YOU FILE A DISPUTE, THE FRAUDULENT COMPANY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT AGAIN.
April 27th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
I feel stupid, I didn’t look it up, and I paid the fee today, I wonder if they are gonna keep charging me after today, they got my home address and everything,… Trial and error, I guess. I just looking for a practical way to make money from home and online, just can’t find anything that is not a scam.
April 26th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
I was about to try this program. Thank goodness i Looked it up as well..where is a great and legitimate place to make money online??
April 26th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
i was about to do this thing……but i Googled it first and now im glad that i didn’t do it….its a scam
