Charged $180.00 THREE days into my 7-day "free" trial
Pretty Great - So Far...
Honestly, I signed up to it on a day I was feeling quite low. I was matched with Matthew Eubanks, who was very patient and understanding. And while it always felt like he was on my side, I could also tell that he would never Actually take sides. He obviously knows that there are always deep corners in every struggle, that may or may not be the fault of the person in the struggle. It was awesome to know that he wouldn't simply just tell me what I wanted to hear, but actually give me insight into myself and others as well.
The ability to send email type messages at any given time was really quite helpful, as my schedule is never planned and always a disaster. So the convenience was excellent to have - though if I had had real problems that needed on demand attention, I would have needed to schedule something more personable - like a chat session, or phone call.. Something more direct.
I did not need this function though, in fact, a few days of simply just talking, and I bounced right back into my own independence. Whether this was the cause of Matthew himself, myself or just the service in general - I don't know. But it doesn't matter. The fact is that it is convenient, has potential for helping anyone and is quite a smart idea.
I have looked at other reviews,and will be keeping an update for others if I get my refund back - as I know that I cannot afford the service (especially seeing as I don't feel I need it any further). So, it will be a BIG problem if I do not get the refund in full. And it would become a VERY important part of this review... Will keep you all updated!
Very Unsatisfied!!
I decided to try betterhelp. I thought it was an interesting concept. My counselor was not bad, however took long to respond specially on the weekends. I wanted to cancel the service but I noticed my card was already charged. I have sent over 5 emails to cancel my subscription and the 180 dollars to be delivered back to my account, with no luck. They just answered once saying that I can cancel my subscription anytime however they did not mention that my money would be given back. They have terrible customer service. Worst I have seen.
I request my money back and I will continue to do it. I have not cancelled my subscription yet specially since they wont answer me but now the counselor is not even reponding my messages anymore. So I will cancel it now and I expect my money back for a service a I have not received.
SCAM unless I am proven the opposite.

i SENT AN EMAIL TO THE BETTER HELP TEAM SOME OF US WORK ON BUDGETS AND NEED THE MONEY YOUR COMPANY IS TAKING AWAY BY MISTAKE. THIS TYPE OF ACTION DOES NOT SPEAK WELL ABOUT THIS COMPANY.

Had a bad experience with regards to a 'free-trial'. Was refunded after some back and forth.
Therapy over the internet isn't really for me, but it could be for you.
This company is a joke. My refund was requested and no email no anything, I called on Tuesday and today and got hung up on 2x, called a total of 6 times and i am not going to stop until they give me my $140 back. I cancelled their service and they are scamming people. I was hoping for once that there was an honest company out there but Better help is not it.
Love this site
I had a really amazing therapist when I was young so I have a pretty high standard for therapists. I tried several therapists through my insurance and was absolutely not happy. Then I heard about this site and I wasn't expecting it to be great but I absolutely love it.
After answering all the basic questions I got matched up with Shawna and within the first few days I wasn't sure if I would continue because she was super helpful and I felt better. I chose to keep my account because I obviously wouldn't feel good forever haha.
I love that I can get help whenever I need it. I don't have to wait until an appointment to deal with my issues which is super helpful because I always forget what the problem is.
I also love that I can type it all out. My first therapist called me a master of avoidance because I just have a really hard time vocalizing things and now that I can write it out my problems actually get solved.
Shawna always responds in a timely manner, too, so I'm not left wondering what I should do.
I have honestly gotten more help on this site in a couple weeks than I have in months of therapy. I would definitely recommend this site.

I opted in for a free-trial period, after which I decided this service wasn't for me. I found it hard to relate to a cold, robotic stranger through internet chat, but that's beside the point.
I decided to utilize the free-trial offered by this site and came to the above conclusion within the trial period. Being both "free" and a "trial", you can imagine my surprise when I received a call today that I owed my former banking institution for more than a month's worth of the $45/week charges for counseling, despite never having actually used the service.
I received no e-mails from Betterhelp regarding payments, I suppose I missed some small-print when I signed up for this free-trial (should have wondered why they needed my credit card for a free-trial).
So there's nothing I can do. I'm in Canada so I'm paying $1.30 on the dollar for this service I never used. I am going to see what the bank can do for me but I doubt it will help.
Betterhelp's fraudulent claim of a "free-trial", and the unhelpful e-mail essentially telling me "get lost" when I informed them I had been wrongfully billed, lead me to question how much they really care about these people they are supposedly out to help.

I was told I would receive a refund. What I received was some $24.82 short of the payment I was told would be refunded. Additionally, the initial charge at the end of the trial week is not to be refunded at all?
I was told I'd be refunded for a charge of $257.00, I received one for $232.18. I'm still out 25 plus the initial $247.40. I know that's a lot of exact numbers but I feel the need to be direct and accurate in this matter. I am still out $272.22.
I understand this, but I unknowingly opted in. At the end of the week I was charged for a full month of service. I was subsequently charged for another month of service (for which I have been partially refunded), and when I finally realized and cancelled the service at the end of January, your company attempted to charge my card again for various amts around the figure of $250, the payment for another month.

It may very well be based on subscription and not activity but, considering I never once used the service after having unknowingly subscribed to it, it seems to violate the principles of good faith to expect me to pay you $500 having provided no service to me whatsoever.

Don't you know how to send invoice or bill? Why would you charge money from your customers just like that? Without any warning or reminder. You sent email only when you already got our money. Do you really want to HELP? Better give us REFUND!

so this is my experience wirth betterhelp
I absolutely love this site! My counselor , is amazing! I've been going through so extremely difficult times lately , the lowest I ever felt emotionally and having someone to talk to about it is freeing to someone who normally holds all their problems. My only complaint I would have is the billing, my free trial ends today and I will not have the money to pay until Friday, so that means no therapy until next Monday. I just wish that the billing was a little more flexible.
As of now I would 100% recommend Betterhelp to anyone who needs it or just wants to get a few things off their chest. I have already recommended Betterhelp to family and friends, some of which are now members themselves.

BEWARE!
Total scam. Signed up for the free trial, was happy with the therapiist and decided to go ahead with the service for $70 (aud)/week. Received NO further contact after that week despite several emails and today have seen that they have taken $2650 from my account. Can I please have some form of communication to how I can take this further from the better help team?

BetterHelp is a great way of getting online therapy.
I've been working with my therapist, Karen Armstrong, for some time now, and she's been awesome. I feel that if you're comfortable with not doing face to face, this can totally work for anyone.
When going to this site, you can ask for a therapist that specializes in the therapy you're looking for, whether it be addiction, abuse, LGBT, family, PTSD, depression, etc., you'll be assigned a therapist that specializes with your needs.
As well, the cost of therapy in this situation is also more cost effective. For what I would pay for one session doing a face to face, I get tons of help during the month for the cost of one session with an outside therapist.

Did you ever get your money refunded back to you? The same thing just happened to me and I sent them a message, but I probably wont hear back from them until hopefully tomorrow since I sent it to them after their business hours.
I WISH I LOOKED AT THESE REVIEWS BEFORE EVEN BOTHERING.
