About Motorcycle Mechanics Institute

The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, is one of the subsidiaries of the Universal Technical Institute, which describes themselves as a nationwide provider of technical education for training students who are hoping to find careers in the automotive, motorcycle, marine industries, and more.

They are a campus based school system which includes the Universal Technical Institute, the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, the Marine Mechanics Institute, and the NASCAR Technical Institute.

How Does It Work?

Potential students should first look at the campus options available to them, including those in Texas, California, North Carolina, Illinois, Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, and what programs are available at each campus, from Automotive, to Diesel, Collision Repair, Marine, Motorcycle, and NASCAR Tech.

While each campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges has accredited all of their schools and is recognized by the US Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency. But it is still up to you to ensure that every individual program at each campus is also accredited.

Cost/Price Plans

Unfortunately the cost of each program at each individual campus will vary depending on a range of factors. Their website does not publish the cost of any individual credit hour or complete program, though they do have links that offer information on scholarships, financial aid, and student work opportunities.

Mobile Options

Not applicable.

Refund Policy

Each individual campus and program will have a different refund policy that will let students know at what point during the class sessions they can drop their enrollment and receive their money back. Students that are worried about the potential of not being able to finish a program should ask their advisor about these dates before enrolling in their program.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who would like to speak with a Customer Service representative can call them directly at 800-834-7308, or they also provide an option to speak to someone directly through an online chat feature.

As with any higher education institution, there are mixed reviews. Many of the negative reviews are focused on the extreme financial hardship often incurred by students who take out loans to attend these programs to learn the same kinds of amount of information that arguably could have been learned through an apprenticeship program or through taking an entry level job and working their way up.

Is It Safe?

There does not seem to be any complaints regarding the safety of this institution.

Competitors and Alternatives?

Many individuals colleges, community colleges, universities, and training programs can offer these types of industry specific training and education - if you are not interested in these institutions, you can find a local institution that offers programs better suited to your needs.
