About TruthFinder

TruthFinder.com is the online home of TruthFinder, a people search website which promises to give people access to the real records and social media networks people want access to when ordering a background check.

How Does It Work?

Like other people search websites or public access background check websites, TruthFinder uses access to public records databases to provide you with the information you are looking for, including all state, federal, and local databases and all popular social networks.

TruthFinder promises that using their service will not put their customers or their computers in any kind of jeopardy. Their website is safe and secure, meaning that using their service will never put their customers at risk of a virus or attack from a hacker.

Though this website says that it accesses all databases operated by official sources and organizations, and their search process requires extra steps where they are continually verifying the accuracy of the information they are collecting, this website emphasizes repeatedly throughout the request and search process that this information cannot be used for any official reasons.

In fact, before you officially receive your report, you must agree that you will not use this information for any illegal reasons, like stalking or harassment, nor will you publicize the information you find, or tell people about the information you have found. Nor can these background reports be used for any official reasons, such as to deny rental units to potential tenants, to make employment decisions, or to make loan or other financial decisions.

Mobile Options

Unfortunately at this time it appears that TruthFinder.com does not provide their customers with any mobile app options; all background checks are just provided by computer at this time.

Cost/Price Plans

Though there have been online reports of TruthFinder offering a free trial to their customers, this does not appear to be the case. Instead, before customers are able to access their background checks and reports, they will need to choose a membership plan that will be priced based on the length of the membership you choose.

Customers can choose to pay for their membership on a month-to-month basis for $16.71 per month, while a three month membership will cost $47.13, or $15.71 per month, and a six month membership will cost $82.26, or $13.71 per month. All memberships will automatically renew at the end of your subscription plan unless you cancel in advance.

Refund Policy

This website says that any customer who believes something has occurred which justifies a refund request should contact their Customer Service team by phone and explain their situation. Each refund request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and customers who are provided with a refund should expect waiting periods of up to one month before the refund can be processed.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who wish to contact Customer Service with questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by phone at 800-699-8081 or by email at [email protected]

Reputation

Unfortunately it appears that this website suffers from the same complaints and issues that plague almost all websites that provide basic background checks. Most people believe that these websites are scams which charge people for providing them with the most basic information that they could really find anywhere. In addition, people often comment that the information they find from these reports is incomplete, flawed, or inaccurate. In an industry that is generally plagued with being a waste of time and money, it seems as though TruthFinder is unable to rise above the rest.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many different websites that promote themselves as a beneficial place from which people can provide their own personal background checks, including Instant Checkmate, Intelius.com, MyPistevo.com, and more. Not worth the money!

Reviewed By Jon LeChevet on January 17, 2017

Much of the information was either inaccurate or way out of date. Teaser with the long waits while it is supposedly searching for data and instead is just wasting time so you think you are getting something. Everything the site found was available on free government of commercial websites.

SCAM!!

Reviewed By MikeVT  on November 15, 2016

This site is a scam that provides less info than a simple google search and starts charging monthly that can't be turned off unless you call them and beg for cancellation or refund. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I subscribed to TruthFinder and wasn't sure what I was actually getting..If you are willing to pay a little more for real info, you will get it..I did not know that when I paid, so I asked for a refund. They responded and refunded within 24 hours...Pretty sure they won't scam you.
